BOV on lower charge pipe
If I upgrade my lower CP are there any benefits or drawbacks to putting the BOV on there?
I'm thinking that moving it away from the firewall will keep it quieter in the cabin. I figured I'll pick up a n55 upper CP, and add the flange included with my tial to the lower CP. Thoughts? |

I was just brain storming, thought it was an interesting idea. I figured that moving it around 12" forward and down a couple inches should be reasonably beneficial in terms of cabin noise.

Not much, I mean further away is going to be quieter but it's not really that much further in the grand scheme of things. I'm guessing you're still going to hear it just fine.

Just to confirm, excluding the DVs/bov port, the n54 & n55 have the same CP? |

If you haven't already got a bov why not look into upgraded diverter valves that recirculate the blow off to keep it quiet?

In all honesty I do like the sound of the BOV I just don't want it to get old/irritating as it's still my daily driver |

You really don't hear it to often in typical daily driving. Only when under medium/heavy boost and quickly letting off the throttle (or between shifts for MT).

Given the work to move it I can't see it being worth while for just sound reasons.
If you really don't want the sound go with recirc bypass valves like stock. You could try to muffle the sound but my worry would be blocking too much airflow. there are various posts on the net like this: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...v-quiet-30744/ Having the filter on there vs venting to atmosphere must decrease the sound a bit: The noise does not bother me and I barely hear it at part throttle, if you are not in boost it is very quiet. I say just learn to live with it. As you increase the car's performance with modifications you cannot expect it to sound and act like stock. NVH goes hand in hand with modifying cars. It is what it is.
