There are not enough clearance, you can screw the adapter but not the sensor.

There is a smaller one on ebay listed for mercedes, but same threads, it is better but electric connector will not fit in.

So i had to make a real T adapter to have sensor and output on the sides.

Using the good counsel of Lexx.md, here's another idea.

It might work, the tube shouldn't be longer than 3-5 inches, as the wiring will not reach the sensor.

You can create a loop and place it wherever you want.

Also, I left the tube connection up to personal preference. Some might solder/braze the tube. Others will prefer compression fittings. Still others will use high pressure hose with fitted ends ...

I am just thinking to keep it simple, more connections more points of leak.

I thought you said "in amsoil they have more than you will need." Now, you are saying you made your own adaptor. Please clarify, thanks.
Sorry i have missed your question and just found it.

Amsoil has everything to assemble bypass filtration besides one thing, you have to find the way to get oil out of the engine.

In my case i used Oil Pressure Switch port to make a T-adapter.
Any standard one didn't worked for 335D, so there is a need in a custom one.

Motorguard

I Installed a Motorguard in the D like shown below. It's a toilet paper filter, if ayone's familiar with that style:

Port Locations Mounting

The w/m pump is below-behind the MG - can't hardly even see it now. Tubing is small copper with compression fittings. I modified the top turbo banjo bolt to provide a fitting for the feed connection.

Bimmerworld Oil Distribution/Sending Block (part # 100.11.530.0003) is a slick solution for $104.99. Used it on my 335d, worked like a champ.

Sorry, haven't visited this site in a while. I have a complete write-up on installation of a Frantz bypass oil filter in a 2011 335d but can't figure out how to upload a Word file as an attachment...

not if its a gravity fed drain system, letting the oil fall into the pan is better in all situations

That makes me nervous about doing this because I feel like tapping the side of the pan will turn into problems down the road.

Really sounds simple to do though. Tap oil cap, run line to filter, run line from filter to oil pan, tap oil pan and enjoy. Did I get that right?

2011 335d Bypass Filter Installation

I was a little slow on the uptake yesterday. Please find a .pdf of the procedures attached.

Don't drill the pan--use an Amsoil BP89 through the oil filler cap. I used an aftermarket cap from ebay and kept my original.

Probably could return oil through the oil drain plug, but would be a lot of work and introduce a potential leak in a bad location. The BP89 is the heat.

Ah Thankyou for this. So tap at oil pressure sensor port then use the oil fill as return line. Seems easy enough. I'll have to add this to my list of things to do lol... it's a long list.

i haven't looked at the space around filter housing, but it would be awesome to tap the return into the side of the oil filter! the housing is only $85 on ebay (only 85 lol)

325stoner, I considered that but dismissed it because it won't give you sufficient pressure differential to properly flow a Frantz bypass filter. Frantz uses a 1/8 inch orifice to restrict flow and preserve flow through the engine so it needs more pressure to get the volume through the filter element. Accordingly, it pulls from the pump and returns to the pan for a pressure differential of 25 psi or more at speed.

What you are proposing is to pull from the high side of the full flow filter and return to the downstream side. Accordingly, you will only be seeing a 5 psi differential at best related to pressure loss across the full flow filter.
