If you look at the mechanism, PDC module send a trigger message to CIC and other modules. But then emulators is doing the same job (I believe) and a step ahead by emulating the reverse screen. I would suggest you to wait for jammy's attempt to retrofit and if it works, then go for retrofitting reverse PDC module. You will be surprised that its not that difficult. You could try fitting the reverse PDC module without the sensors to assist reverse camera module.

Luckily it does!
My camera has arrived, just waiting for an inline fuse now. With the av cable that came with the emulator -> is the black wire the -av? Last edited by jammy78; 02-28-2014 at 01:13 PM.. |

He does.
I have retrofitted rear PDC on my car. Prior fitting them, CIC was not showing reverse screen despite of CIC coded for reverse sensors. However when I added the reverse parking module, it started showing up the reverse screen and it all worked well. Lets wait and see whats the outcome of jammy's experiment.

I can pick up a PDC module on ebay for ~$50. Then i'd just have to source a harness. Haven't really researched that, but it should be simple enough considering i'm not hooking any sensors up to it. I'm debating if i should go this route. I'm not shelling out $560 for bimmertech's emulator. |

Waiting until I have mine installed before shelling out on a PDC module - I'll give an honest review! |

I don't think this emulator works!?
I wired it up - coded & I just get a black screen. So I've checked the wiring..... I get power to the camera when the car is switched of but the car is on.... no power!? I have tried it in reverse & still no power going to the camera? It's obviously the emulator cutting the power to it..... not sure what else to check / do |

I did it for troubleshooting purposes, bit I didn't have a power problem. It is weird that power is going to it when the car is off because CIC doesn't even get power when the vehicle is asleep

If I'm right - when you put it reverse the can will send a signal to the emulator to power / turn on the camera..... it looks like this isn't happening? |

Further fault checks..... ensuring my soldering joins are good:
> confirmed power is going to the emulator > confirmed signal from the CAN is going to the emulator > no power is coming out of the emulator (white wire) What extra coding do I need to do?... I've done the following: macro_pdc aktiv macro_rearview aktiv rvc_cic wert_23 macro_l6_parkmenu aktiv |

Check can wiring again. Take out the cic emulator out (from the connector). If it does not work, connect camera positive to reverse positive connection and try.
