No, I was told by Richard that the program will store all the data already on your ecu and you can simply flash this one and it'll work with whatever you already have because this flashes the "TRANSMISSION ONLY" (Sorry I'm not yelling, just trying to make it obvious)!!

MHD flashes your ecu/Engine!

To elaborate on above, I have read that you just have to make sure tq limits on trans flash exceed engine.

Just finished flashing stage 3. Shifts in M are VERY violent. Will have to test it out more but for now here are some logs: http://datazap.me/u/mikaeldarer/xhp?log=0&data=3-14

Is "violent" a good thing or a bad thing?

Hard to really say just yet. On the 2nd test ride shifts felt a bit smoother. One thing to note, if you are coming from non-alpina flash(like me) you'll have to adapt for shifting "later" to avoid shortshifting. Along with much faster shift times, the response from paddles/gear selector is almost instantaneous.

Yeah, I posted in the xHP thread, and up to 75% or so pedal percentage - it felt very quick and precise, really great overall. Though, when I'd go WOT and hit through the gears it is just as quick, though it really 'hits' hard into gear, 'violent' is a reasonable term for that, then again I might be overstating it.

Just went to grab lunch from work and it did feel better at WOT this time [did a couple 2nd through 3rd gear WOT pulls]. It definitely felt a little less violent the 2nd time around.

Agreed that shifts are feeling smoother the more I drive. Someone mentioned adaptations are likely reset after flashing which makes sense. Here is a quick video of some upshifts.

I'm doing mine right now, it's backing up the TCU right now and then I'll flash the Stage 3 soon after.

I flashed my car with stage 3 this morning without any problems. It took 35 min to back up, 25 min to install xHP, and 5 min to install stage 3. Overall, it's not dramatically different than Alpina in M mode. The upshifts and downshifts feel slightly smoother and they are very quick. The D mode is much better than Alpina. I haven't driven much in DS so I can't say much about that.

It pretty much took the same amount of time for me to do the same and I have driven in DS mode and let me tell you, this thing absolutely flat out flies now.

I actually got tested by a G8 from a dig at a light on a street with no one else there, it was over before it started and he simply gave up not even a 1/4 of the way into it.

Yeah, it feels worlds better than the stock tcu calibrations. With stock - in between shifts it felt 'sloppy' in a sense, 'bloopy', just felt like it could've been calibrated to a better state than what BMW set out for it originally. With 50% faster shifts through this flash for M and DS - it feels so much better, it's how it should've came. The downshift and rev matching is awesome too. All around I'm pleased - for how I have my car set up.

Just got this flash done today, and finally got it to work, took it around the block and WOW is all I can say, its loads better then stock, the downshifts feel the same speed as alpina, but are smoother, and the upshifts are great! Ill make a video of it later today, Also the fact that it removes the auto upshift is reason enough to get this flash for me.

Here is a copy of my review on the XHP thread for anyone on the fence about this mod.

Got the Stage 3 flash to work, with plenty of support from RBT-Tuning My car kept running into wierd issues, but they were able to get it straightened out for me. and im SUPER happy with the results. the no auto upshifts is honestly the greatest feature, the shifts feel super clean and crisp, and honestly im super happy about that.

To answer the question of should I get this instead of Alpina here is how im thinking about it. If you already have Alpina and Like it, stick with it.

if the Auto Upshifts bug you, get it.
if your RWD, and want the trans to handle more torque, get it
if you only drive in M mode, get it.
if your stock, but dont know how to flash alpina, get it
if you know how to flash alpina, try it first, then decide if you want XHP.

pros of XHP
No Auto Upshift, better burn outs, capability to drift
Marginally faster shifts in M mode vs alpina flash
Smoother shifts in M mode vs alpina flash
Better rev matching
supports SIGNIFICANTLY more power/torque
Allows customization of the TCU

Cons of XHP
Costs 200$ for Stage 3 ( the only stage I would get ) vs alpina which is free
will void your warranty

This is written by someone who only Drives in M mode, so take it with a grain of salt, and would be the reason why I didnt discuss either of the D or DS modes on either.

Very great review, I agree with all of it.......totally unbiased opinion. Driving in DS mode is the best, this thing is a beast in that mode vs the D and M mode because the computer can actually shift faster than you/we can.

For those considering this, there is a Google play deal at Costco that gives your $100 in credit for $83. https://slickdeals.net/f/10012800-go...2-99-at-costco

Should help soften the blow a little.

Right now I am on Alpina and I want to have the stock flash backed up before doing xHP. I did not code it myself so I would need to have someone code it back to stock first.

I don't know what it is about this xHP program but the more I drive the car, the better and crisper the shifts are getting.

It seems to be getting faster since I first ran it.
