With E90's high compression engine, you're suppose to use 91+ octane. You can still use 87 or 89, since the knock sensor will retard timing to accomandate for lower grade fuel

My car says that the MINIMUM octane rating is 91. That's what I pump, normally Chevron.

I'm a Chevron Techron whore. No matter which car I'm putting gas in, it's always to a Chevron I go. And most parts of S. CA, the highest octane available is 91. I've seen the random 93 octane here and there, but those are far and few between.

Could always go to the local raceway and get 101 Octane..probably be just burning gas/money though.

91 only (highest possible in the area)!

It always makes me mad when I see a person that has a car (esp. a BMW) that requires 91 and they are putting in 87. And they don't realize they are robbing their car of power and gas mileage. Another reason not to buy a used car.
