Cool, now i will have to find my cable and get a dump of my DWAS & DWAI and start comparing the values to make sure I have everything set properly.

Nice find. I also did not know about the K and E prefixes.

My car had the MP3 functionallity retrofitted to the vehicle because it didn't become from the factory that way. So when it was retofitted, the K word +KMP3 was added to the vehicle order.

You can technically still use $302 in your VO and things should work fine, but the official OEM way for performing the retrofit is using the K word +K302. That's what Progman and ISTA/P would do if you used them to retrofit it.
Where did you get Progman and ISTA/P? I have been looking to try and code the clown nose blink without having the alarm installed. Reading on other forums it is possible just can't figure it out with NCS. Everyone says its easier with progman.

Progman and ISTA/P will not let you do it without the alarm being installed. Progman and ISTA/P are great if you are doing official retrofits to your car as they check for the modules to be properly installed in the car and will not proceed with coding until they are.

Progman is available all over the internet (check a couple other BMW forums online and I'm sure you'll find it). Progman will work without a bunch of hassle as long as your car hasn't been updated past v32.

ISTA/P is a little trickier, the version I have is an ISSS server modified to work in a standalone mode, without the mother ISIS server cluster. It's a beta version written by a very bright guy in Greece and is not currently available for public use. I've posted information about this, along with a ton of screenshots over at the BMW coding website forums.

A couple popular K words to note (translated to english) because I know a number of people ask about these.

Code:
K OI11 / / disable driver Seatbeltreminder
K OI12 / / disable passenger Seatbeltreminder
K OI03 / / disable side airbag, front left
K OI04 / / disable side airbag front right
K DBFA / / retrofitting passenger airbag deactivation
K K302 / / alarm system retrofitting 0306-0906

Dracon ... this is great info, tkx!

I'm wondering like in my E60 ... when I did my LCI lights conversion I have to add +MUEB. So is that mean there's M words class too? Just not sure what goes into M class section.

+MUEB is a K word, not all K words start with K. If the code is 3 characters, it's preceded with a K (like K302 or KMP3) but if the code is four letters, it's just the four letter code.

Code:
K MUEB MUE_BELEUCHTUNG //LCI tail lights retrofit measure E87N, Project Number.:FZ 000000246
That's from the E89 daten, I'm sure there's a similar one in the E60 daten.

The non-dimming AE on LCI has been been discovered on E60 hope it could be similar if not the same entry for E9x.

If it's a VO code word, it's very likely to be the same, BMW tends to reuse VO codes across models whenever possible.

Same document, you'll change the VO (or FA) and then write it to both the CAS and FRM modules (instead of the LMA like in the example as that applies to E65). Then you can use "Process Car" in Expert mode to recode the whole car for the new VO.
I'm a little confused. Doesn't adding +K302 to the VO and then clicking on Process Car (rather than Process ECU) code any and all modules for the newly added retrofit? Also, what's the difference between VO and FA? Since you access the VO via the FA write process, I'm confused by your posts, which kind of alludes to the FA being something different than the VO. Finally, when you initially create the NCS profile, aren't you doing it based on "Expert Mode," and therefore as long as you always load that profile each time you start NCS, aren't you alrady in expert mode?

Damn, so I paid the dealer way too much money to code my car for the BMW portable navigation...all because I couldn't figure out what the option code would be for it. It seems that I may have been able to do it all along just by adding +NAVP to the VO, since the installation and coding instructions actually reference adding option code NAVP to code the car for the retrofit. I couldn't find any option code # corresponding to the portable navigation and now it seems that's because NAVP is the actual option code. Doh! Come to think of it, I didn't scroll all the way through my VO the last time I looked at it so I'll have to look for NAVP in there.

VO and FA are the same thing (VO=Vehicle Order and FA=Fahrzeug-Auftrag which is Vehicle Order in German).

I was saying you have to edit the VO first and write it to the CAS and FRM (the two modules in the E89 chassis which hold the VO) and then Process Car.

I was specifying the Expert Mode profile for clarity, there's a large number of custom profiles out there (like revtor, fister, etc.).

BMW's option code list usually doesn't list out K words because they are mainly for retrofits, so they don't show up much on published lists.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. Gees, just about every post in this thread contains more and helpful information and is each a small piece in this very large coding puzzle. I think it's safe to say that most newbs and/or people following the DIY in this thread are setting up their profiles under the auspices of the expert mode profile.

Side note, is there any way to delete a profile after it's created?

Which explains why I couldn't find an option code for the portable navigation. Of course, it is listed in your post above and it's shown as NAVP, just like the installation/coding instructions say.

There should be a profile directory in the NCS Expert directory, do in there and you can delete the .pfl file for that profile.

Does anyone know what was coded on the E60 so that it can be reviewed and/or tested.

Code:
Go into LMA and look for:

PWM_AN_SL_V_AL_1_34
 wert_06 - ** Change to wert_01 **
From the bmw coding website forums. E90's don't have a LMA module so we'll need to see if there's a similar value in one of the E90 modules.

I'm havin' a hard time linking the thread from another forum, but the function seems to be:

PWM_AN_SL_V_AL_1_34 -> wert_01

The LCI default is wert_06 while pre-LCI (w/ LM2) default is wert_02.

PS: Credit goes to Sublime/itschase
