weird noise from right front wheelwell
did anyone else also hear metal-on-metal rubbing noise from their wheelwells? around 3-4 weeks ago i started hearing metal rubbing/ scratching noise after i reduce my speed from going around 60mph to 20-30 mph. From what I can hear, i think it's coimng from the front right but nothing from the rear. also, i have a squeaking noise when my e-brake is on. I took it to the dealership to get it fixed but apparently these bastards didn't even take the time to diagnose my car. nothing was fixed and the noises are worse. I still have around 50miles before i hit 50k and my warranty is up. Can it be rotors, pads, etc? can someone tell me, who had same to similar experience, what's wrong and what I should do?
Thank you -phil |

It could be the common squeaky brakes issue.

Probably. It's just an issue with the brake pad sensor causing the sound I believe.

All high performance brake pads including the OEM ones on this car produce quite a bit of brake dust. This causes a slight squeal at low speed and light braking such as manuvering around in a parking lot.
Try washing the inside of wheels, brake calipers, rotors, etc with a wet rag / liquid car wash soap and give a good flushing with a hose. This will likely make the noise go away for a period of time until it's time to wash again. I use this as my "time to wash the car again" indicator. I have tried Hawk HPS pads which were great but ultimately still had brake dust. This is just a condition that all cars with performance brakes have to deal with. I am obviously not positive that brake dust is your culprit, but definately suspect and easy to diagnose. Good luck. |
