Thank you for this DIY socket. I was planning to do a CIC retrofit on my e92 next summer but may just go straight for the NBT as I've seen some good prices on eBay for the unit, screen and controller.

Do you mind sharing the parts numbers mate from your list? Also I assume the Bluetooth antenna and the emulator is Non BMW so if you can share a link for that I'd be grateful.

So, there is a lot of models of crashed cars on the market here in Croatia that could serve as donors for NBT unit, but since majority of the sellers are not familiar with product numbers of the parts in their wrecks, I am having trouble steering myself in the right direction.

So, could someone please shed some light here... E90 adds for example, usually advertise their systems as "Big navigation", Professional or Business unit, etc.

Can you tell me what type of car am i looking at to dissect for NBT? can it be something like iDrive Proffessional from, lets say F30?

i only know that i need 8,8" screen and can recognize the control knob that goes on the trim.

I have seen NBT head units that are more 1-Din than 2-Din size (like THIS one), so i wonder, from which car, and with what "mainstream" name, will the unit actually be suitable for this E90 retrofit?

No just cheap units, the link for Blue tooth aerial

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bluetooth...QAAOSwpdpVdUMw

and reverse camera

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CCD-Car-R...item3ab91a4b5e

Both work fine
No coding required as the NBT head unit should come coded for you vehicles VIN number

Hope this helps

Hi mate, I picked up the same antenna as in your opening post. Doesn't the original BT antenna cable in CCC connect to some module in the footwell? Is this no longer necessary?

Cheers

Sorry for the bump... So no wires were ran to the back of the car? Also did you not run the pins into your OBD port?

Hello guys. I am currently waiting for my NBT to arrive and I am doing the retrofit. My car is currently without any navigation (2012 E92 328xi). I have one question for now - can I use the bluetooth antenna that is located on the plastic under the steering wheel, next to the speaker, or I have to buy a new antenna ?

Yes, you can use the antenna, but the antenna is connected to a module in the trunk, but with NBT it will be connected directly to the headunit, so the easiest thing to do is to order a new cable to connect that antenna directly to the NBT unit.

The new OEM antenna was dirt cheap from the dealer.

Any idea what is the part number of the cable ? Link from ebay or aliexpress also works. Also the same about the cable that runs from the head unit to the USB/AUX in the armrest ? I think that ordering two new cables will be a lot easier than rewrouting the existing wires.

The NBT controller is just a little bit bigger than the CIC controller, I used a file to open up the hole to fit the NBT controller.

The mounting holes are also in different locations, you need to cut some so the controller rests flat and use something to hold the controller in place. I used strapping from Home Depot.
