You'll need another license for another car.

What are the benefits over the xhp stage 1 tune?

How will your tranny tune for towing 4-5k?

Is there another way in uploading the DWR tune into the transmission without using the xHP app?

Why chance it? Xhp general license is $89, safe proven method to flash.

Since it is encrypted, no. Only xHP app can properly flash the file. You could, however, flash an unencrypted file of your making.

It is the same tune you have in your 335d, except X5d shifts points in D and S remain unchanged from OEM. You can decide if that is of benefit. From your perspective, what is the benefit of the xHP stage 1 for towing?
At OEM power levels, I think the OEM TCU tune is decent. I do like to tweak the shift points at low accelerator pedal percentage for improved economy.

Xhp doesn't benefit me towing at all. I simply purchased for improved fuel economy. I reached out to xhp about a tow tune for the x5 and he said it wasn't necessary since there are maps for towing.

I'm looking for a towing tune, like you'd get in the domestic market. A tune I could load right before I hook up the trailer.

My X5 is tuned too.

If S mode shifted a bit lower, that would be a nice towing tune to use S, keeping the engine from loafing low.

I'm pretty sure the TCU will notice that you are towing a load and switch the shift map to a towing shift map. Unless you force something different like sport or manual mode, it's going to select the shift points defined in the towing maps.

Xhp should be able to tweak those maps and maybe the thresholds that trigger the towing mode.

That would be a better solution.

To the TCU, towing looks a lot like uphill and downhill. There are several maps associated with speed gradients that do not match throttle input. TCU automatically switches to the appropriate map.

It has been about a week since I have installed the DWR trans tune and I could never go back to the stage 3 1.1 (hybrid). I am so pleased with this tune and it even seemed to adapt to my driving even more after a day or so. The tune is perfect for my car (BPC stage 2+) and it predicts my every move. Even with driving in D and all traction control on, with a hard launch I get a little "chirp" and the car is off, absolutely no bogging down. Paddle up and down shifts and fast and affirmative and sport shifts at redline are great as well.

If you dont have this tune, I highly recommend it.

Exclamation Change In Process For Dwr Tcu Tune

I am so pleased that many of you are enjoying the TCU tune.

However, some folks are not living up to commitments, causing me to do work and then not doing their part. Therefore, the process can no longer be on an honor system.

The NEW process works like this:
1) PM me to exchange private email addresses (cost info also). I also understand that the contact email is on Facebook.
2) A PayPal request is sent to your email.
3) After payment, send a copy of your xhp.state file to the contact email.
4) A custom tune is created for your vehicle.
5) File goes to xHP for encryption.
6) Once encrypted and returned, file is sent to your email.
7) Place file into xHP custom folder. Refer to xHP manual for installation.
8) Enjoy!

P.S. you must purchase the xHP app before starting the above process.

That's unfortunate, but glad to see the tune still being offered. It continues to put a smile on my face anytime the skinny pedal is used aggressively.

Some are reading too much into this. Here's the issue.
I make a tune on someone's request.
Requester then "disappears".
What bothers me the most is I get encryption support from xHP and their time is also wasted.
Not going to happen anymore.

I'm guessing DWR would do all the work, contact xHP and the person would never follow through with payment when it was time.

DWR, will there be updates made to this tune at all by chance when required?

I'm not sure what "when required" means. I have met some specific custom requests. But, I am trying to stay away from that. There is something special in the works. I won't release it until xHP is ready with an encryption module/app. Hopefully, that won't be long.

Trying to focus whatever spare time I have on a better WMI system. Right now I have a prototype 3 stage 800 psi pumpless system with semi-closed loop control. Up to this point, I have been cobbling together off the shelf items. Cannot get around the fact that I will have to build some custom circuitry to get where I want to be. Let me just say that 800 psi makes for darn fine atomization. Not sure if anyone else is interested in such rarified stuff, but it entertains me.
