So I just replaced my valve cover with an aftermarket unit (URO). Had a VCG leak and figured I should replace the cover itself due to all the reports of N55 PCV failure around 60k miles.

Installation went fine. Car runs good. Test drive around the block was perfect.

Hopped in the next morning to go somewhere and now it sounds like there?s a whinny kitten under the hood every time I come to a stop. It seems to go away after 5-10 sec. No noise at idle.

Did replacing the cover end up causing the exact issue I was trying to avoid? ?

Here?s a video of the lovely sound:

Sorry to say it, but that is exactly what mine sounded like. You can remove your oil filler cap and will likely have a ton of suction and the screeching will quit.

You got a catch can so it's odd that your pcv system fails

Literally has no affect on the PCV as the can is after it. All the can does is collect oil rather than it going into the turbo inlet.

Then you either fixed a vacuum leak or created one.

This is a brand new valve cover, so must be a defective PCV.

One thing I noticed is it doesnt make the sound until the car is fully warmed up. Driving around before the oil is up to temp is perfectly normal.

For future reference, Uro makes dog shit quality parts. I would go with OEM personally.

Mike is squealing now at 55k miles. Haven't replaced the valve cover yet, but I have an oem unit in the garage ready to go in.

I have used plenty of URO replacement parts in the past with no issue.

Guess I learned the hard way this time.
