MSD81 replacement, what else should be replaced?

BT cable cannot read engine module
INPA has script errors when I try to input the injector values
INPA has an initialization error when I try to view the UIF (to read my vin)
Car will crank but wont start
With ignition on, fuse 37 shows 12 volts (Good DME relay)

I am 99% sure I need a new MSD81. Can I replace just the MSD or must I replace other items like the key fob, key fob slot, and car access system?

According to the DME replacement instructions on newtis all that has to be done is to input the injector values using INPA.

Only if you buy a brand new DME from a dealer, in which case it will come programmed with the correct SK (secret code) to match that encoded in the CAS.

If you install a used DME without aligning it to the CAS, the car will crank but not start. Unfortunately, BMW standard tools cannot perform the necessary alignment.

But first, what if any error codes are reported? Also, what EXACTLY does INPA report after selecting "N54" then either F1 or F2?

Typically, you have to send them your CAS module & a key. They code your CAS & Key to the new DME & then send you your CAS, Key & new DME.

Costs around $600.00 or so
