There's no additional pressure drop when comparing the Wagner to the VRSF

While the other options mentioned are reputable brands, they have abandoned this platform whereas we offer 3 different options suited for particular applications.

Tiago, I don't see any actual dimensions on your website, so what dimensions are the 5" HD, 7.5" HD & 7.5" Race FMICs?

Also, what's the actual pressure drop between those 3? I think that'd help people like me, who are running stock turbos, come to a decision.

But, I've heard claims of the Wagner Evo II Comp. becoming easily heat soaked with temps above 100 degrees F however without any logs for proof... The VRSF seems to offer the best cooling but with just the stock turbos on Stage 2+ I don't think I need THAT much cooling as the pressure drop seems intense. Then the ETS and AMS seem about equal to each other but only offer mediocre performance that I'm not sure is able to handle Stage 2+. I'm lost and really any help would be great!
Lots of good options with their own pros and cons, including Wagner, VRSF, Evolution Racewerks & CSF.

Wagner EVO II Comp pros are a very high build quality, tube and fin construction (50% lighter that other intercooler with same dimensions), very fast recovery.

VRSF pro, high density core to provide improved cooling, quality build at an unbeatable price.

I bought the VRSF 5" HD one, and running stock turbos, and all i can say is that there is some pressure drop, if you are sensitive to that, but cooling is great, greater than the Forge FMIC i had previously, like night and day.

So, you have to deal with that, a bit of pressure drop, but a way better cooling, like no change in IAT in a 3rd pull. So pull after pull you will feel the difference.

Do you think there will be more pressure drop in the 7.5" HD, or less ?

It has the same design but it's bigger, so probably a little more pressure drop.

I'm running the VRSF 7.5" Race with stock turbos and I haven't noticed any difference as far as pressure drop... If there is it's very little. I highly recommend the the 7.5" Race!

Really interesting tread.

I do a lot of hdpe event with my 335i.

I bought 3 years ago the active autowerke race version with the shroud and everything. Do you think the Wagner competition it's better?

I upgrade all my cooling with csf rad and the race oil cooler from evolution racewerk.

Hi,
Since you are upgrading your turbo, i recommend Wagner EVO III or VRSF 7.5" Race

Im about to do the standard install of all the bolt ons ( pod filter intake, charge pipe vrsf, catless downpipes vrsf, exhaust corsa, Precision Raceworks ignition kit, mhd tune and front mount vrsf competition stepped ) and have a question in regards to the front mount side of things. When puting all these parts in should i be changing the stock intercooler piping? I will have standard turbos still. This great group is full of knowledgeable people and hope I can get some info or ideas for anything extra that should be done!!

The VRSF 7.5" Comp. will come with the couplers and the aluminum j pipe to replace the stock one.

My best advice for install of intercooler is just cut all the plastic out of the way in the beginning. I tried to save small parts that ended up creating headaches and being cut later and wasted a lot of time. As said above the intercooler comes with new piping and its super easy to install when doing the new charge pipe as well. I put all the piping in first raised the intercooler with a jack and then tightened everything up.

Couplers, clamps and lower charge pipe are included with all VRSF intercoolers.

Unfortunately anything larger than a 5" will not fit the ACC.

Much more laggy in 2nd. No noticeable lag, and feels amazing, in higher gears.

I'm tired of people claiming that 7"+ intercoolers on stock turbos don't show any lag. That's nonsense. From a physics standpoint alone, the 7.5" is like twice the volume of OEM, so obviously it takes the turbos longer to fill it with air, esp. at the low end of psi range / low RPM. Doesn't matter how wind-tunnel-tested, or hamster-safe, or whatever your end tanks are.

I bought the VRSF 7.5" HD after every vendor told me there'd be no noticeable difference. And guess what? The lag is very noticeable down low in 2nd. I'm running VRSF CP, DP, MHD 2+. It bothers me enough to consider swapping it out for a well-designed 5", because I want my 2nd gear to be explosive and I'm "sensitive" enough to feel the difference.

I also noticed my max oil temps went up by 10-15 degrees after install. Could be the higher psi, sure, but I suspect the restricted airflow to the rest of the system (e.g. radiator) that is now blocked by the humongous FMIC isn't helping.
