For brands, I would recommend first AMS, followed by Helix,AA,etc.. I'm not sold on the HPF IC, particularly the use of the stock end tanks.

Brian, great to have your inputs in this thread. I am curious as to why you are not convinced on the viability of the stock end tanks, hoses, and couplers. Do you think that these will be restricting?

I should be getting my new Angel Eyes and Tail lights this week! Has anyone done the install of angel eye mod on a 2006 33xi pre-lci? I've seen so many thread about them, but they are ALL different. I just want to see what I am getting myself into before I take a stab at it. Thanks all!

Unusual Behavior

So I fired up my car today, just to let it run for a bit as it hasn't been out since the meet a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, all of my configs, i.e. clock format, temp units, DRL settings, tripple flash turn signal etc were reset to default! The actual clock time, radio presets were intact. Anybody experienced this before?

I don't think the batt is low, as it fired up right away. Before the meet I hadn't used it since November and everything was fine then. I don't understand why only the configs were gone, and not the other settings

I think your best bet is to DRIVE it

Nick
I know, I know I should be driving it. I'm getting it into the shop this week to get the M-Sport bumper painted and installed, so I have a genuine excuse not to use it for a few more weeks to protect the fresh paint

My answer is still - give me a car that doesn't gain 80 HP with a tune AND has 414 HP from the factory and I'll be happy. So I need an M3. And then I'll be done. He doesn't believe me and he's probably right. My arguement was that I never modded my Acura because I know it was not capable of being modded so I was just happy with it. He still disagrees with that logic.

Did you guys know that the M3 has a half functioning hood? One of nostrils in the hood actually goes into the air box. I didn't think they did anything. AND it has "M3" molded into the back of the hood on the right and left corners (near the firewall on the hood)? AND the black headliner is super cool and I wish my car had that? AND they are way too expensive for me to afford?

Nick
That is one hell of a rant Nick! J/k! The Kid is one thing, but the job prospect is another. I've been out of work for almost 1 1/2 years. Luckily I have a wife that makes $$$$ So I can stay focus on going back to school. I was trying to talk her into a M3 sedan, but now it may be an x5 (e53 or e70), x3 or a vw Touareg. I may need some help on this one!

Anything can be modded. I have a 95 Chevy pickup that I went nuts on! After I bolted on every possible part shy of a supercharger, I swapped the entire drivetrain with a 383 stroker and a build tranny. Like anything, its all a matter of time and money! I am "happy" with my little 328. But I'd be happy with a M5 also!

No worries man, your car is awesome and I appreciate the drive again.

Well to clarify my point. I agree that our cars would do well with a little more oomph. However, I would take 50 to 60 reliable whp any day over 90-100 whp with the increased risk of CELs, requiring supporting mods, etc. I might choose to go the latter route if my car was not my primary driver.

I'm not sure how I feel about the X6 yet. Or the new 5er GT for that matter. They look kinda cool, and it seems like they might have a nitch market. Honda/Acura has made an attempt to "copy" them with their new Crosstour and ZDX.

I think an M version of both the X5 and X6 are awesome, but I am a truck guy at heart. I've always loved the Trailblazer SS, Cherokee SRT8, and the older GMC Typhoon, and the MB AMG ML's. The idea of hauling a family and towing my 4 wheelers at high speeds has always intrigued me

I saw an X5M in Chanhassen last fall, and I had to look twice to be sure it was an M. Very subtle, especially in black. On the X6M, I agree that it's an utterly useless vehicle, kinda ugly, not efficient, but I still really really want one! There is something deeply cool to me about a 3 ton monster that's so quick it can tear your face off.

The only MB suv I like is the G55 AMG. Kinda old school and a little agricultural underneath, but those G wagens are cool in my books.

First thing I thought too when I saw the tv commercials! So BMW invent two new niches with the X6 and 5GT, they don't sell very many of either that I can see, so the market is obviously a little on the small side, but Honda still go ahead and rip them off? Maybe they will sell better being cheaper? Time will tell I guess.

I'm not typically a big fan of SUV's, but I gotta say I LOVE the X6.

It doesn't bother me too much whether my car is inside or outside for a service visit, except if there is a chance of hail! Still sounds like a BS policy though. If they are basing this on a car's purchase price, I'm sure there are quite a few 3ers out there that list for more than a 5er...

I'd have to imagine my car is more over base but I bet a 528 with a few of the major packages would go well into the 50's? M5 is the only one I want (or that tt550?) - and both of those are way more than I can afford

Nick
Are you implying I don't use my car enough?

I think the 528i starts in the mid 40s, so for sure a well specced 335 would come in above a basic 528. Did you check out the 2006 M5 at Corousel Audi? Not bad value
