318i Split Flex Pipe Repairs

Garage have said I have a split flex pipe on the exhaust, because it is one continuous piece they will have to replace the entire system top to bottom.

Is there any other way of fixing this blowing/split pipe?

they can't find a universal flex pipe with a similar enough diameter to weld a new on in there? Or can they not weld to the factory piping because they don't have a machine capable?

what's the quote on a whole new exhaust? Cause average flex pipe weld fix here is like $150.

Apparently because its one continuous stainless steel exhaust they cant cut it and weld a new one in.

Quoted 2480 to fit a new one (roughly $3200) without labour.

I'd take it to someplace else.

a sawzall and a grinder makes a one piece pipe into two, and then you just weld a new flex section into it.
I've done it and also had it done on a number of cars, as flex pipes tend to fail before the rest of the piping.

^what he said. On my last car I had a full custom exhaust, manifold to exhaust tip, and I had them install the flex pipe I chose.
