New gasket? Or whole motor?

I had a break in my coolant hose and my engine overheated and unknowingly (i thought i just needed coolant) i drove about 5-10 minutes to get it out of traffic and into a shop. Looking back on this i know it was a very dumb decision and i dont need to know how dumb I am. The shop fixed the leak and started the car up and it rumbles like crazy and white smoke flew out of the exhaust. I noticed a liquid that i believe was coolant coming out of the exhaust with the smoke. Im just wondering if im looking at a new gasket or a whole new motor.

Well first a compression test should be done to know if the motor insides are damaged IMO.

May I ask how you drove on low coolant? Didn't the car tell ya low coolant or overheating?

You warped the head/block from overheating it, and now the head gasket is leaking. The motor is done.

If your lucky you only blew a head gasket. If you not lucky you warped the head and/or block and you will need a new engine. The only way to know is too pull the head off and check the block and head to see if it’s warped with a straight edge. If you don’t work on cars yourself it’s probably cheaper to buy a $2000 used engine and pay some one $1000-$1500 to swap the engine for you. Paying for some one to pull the head is already in the $1000+ range for labor.

You should always do a compression test. But if the car is smoking and spewing coolent out the tail pipe you already know your screwed.

I'd get a rebuilt motor from MMP.

$3500.00

No, it's a motor they have re-conditioned and upgraded certain internal parts.

It's all in the details, on that page.

If you go with MMP's engine, please post a review and Pics. MMP is a legit company. I have their inlets & outlets. I like them. Their customer service is pretty good too from my experience.

before you go out spending thousands of dollars spend $150 and have a good indy diagnose the problem. Dont go around guessing and dont put thought's in the indy's shop head. Just have them diagnose and recommend a solution. I've seen used 335i motor's on CG from 600 - 2200

Yeah there are cheap motors on craigslist but im not about to buy a shitty motor that i dont know anything about. If i was to buy a used motor it would be in the 50-70k range so it would be more like 4-5k. I'm having the shop diagnose the problem and then im going to weigh out all my options.

Really? What about bearings, cam journals, crank...? Not saying they're bad here, but the potential is there if the the oil was thinned by the excessive fuel. More diagnosis is needed.
