Hurricane Bawbag....

... has just deposited some of my roof tiles onto my TT.

Not a happy camper. Cannot assess the damage to the car as its too dark (and, frankly, standing around outside just now would be asking for a slate on the noggin).

Moved both cars away from the house and will assess in the morning. Hope the wind dies down soon as I can see several more tiles are smashed on the roof (think a tile from the higher part of the roof blew down and landed on a lower section of roof smashing several. At least one then bounced off the TT and onto the tarmac.

Oh well...

Ah shit. Not good.

A wall collapsed on to cars up here causing significant damage. The Christmas light display across Union Street was brought down too.

Back in Livi on Saturday so hopefully I will not find any damage.

I know! That is some scary wind. I reckon you could not stand in that?

Livi wasn't tooooo bad but clearly bad enough to knock some tiles off the roof. My neighbours fence has been knocked down too and my wife had to navigate around a lot of debris when she picked the kids up from school at lunchtime.

That sucks

Here in the west it's been blowing a hoolie all day. Luckily no damage (that I know of). Every time it's windy I'm worried about the tree across the road, it'd flatten my car but more importantly could probably reach the house too.

Wind has blown itself out here now. We're near enough right on the west coast in Gourock so had it worse than Glasgow but thankfully no damage to the house. I was in Glasgow until 1 this afternoon until a slate fell off the office roof and landed between my car and the bosses R8. Decided this was enough luck for one day so went home.

Hope the damage to your car isn't too bad Snooky.

Ouch...same thing happened to me in 2007 when a slate hit the roof and bounced onto my bonnet of my 130i. My insurance suffered for four years because I am claimed

Hope its not too bad?

Can confirm the good news that my car appears to have NO damage...I can hardly believe it. It looks like 4 tiles from the hoghest part of the pitched roof blew off and landed on a lower section of roof smashing another 9 tiles and about a quarter of a tile bounced off onto the rear windscreen of the TT - only about a 5 or 6 ft fall and didn't do any damage (the car was positioned beneath the overhang of the roof and the tile segment was on the ground right behind the car so it must have hit it).

So I called the insurance company (house insurance) this morning. Got the jist that it could be days before a surveyor could come and look. Decided to trawl the yellow pages for a local roofer in case it needed covering to keep out water etc. Local chappy reckons he can replace the dozen or so tiles for £150-£200. Importantly, he could do this on Mon or Tue whereas surveyor from insurance co will not be here until Mon afternoon (actual work would be, potentially, days later).

I asked insurance co if I cancelled the claim and just got work done myself (excess is £100 but another £50-£100 for a quiet wife, sorry, life) only to be told it would still appear as a notifiable claim (i.e. impact premium going forward etc).

Gotta love insurance companies, eh?
