Welcome to NJ.
Some major roads are not that friendly, but def better than Philly.
With 19'' wheels you have to be little careful.
My buddy works at Air Force base there and lives in a v nice loft in Philly.
If you are single, then Philly will be a good option, otherwise suburbs are good too. I live around Vorhees, Marlton, Mt Laurel, Cherry Hill(some 20 miles away). This is good area, very good crowd, busy, green and clean.
For your Bimmer mod bug, you'll find VAC Motorsports in Philly

I know of at least a couple of tuned E90 series car on the base. You'll find 'em. I LOLed about the Philly roads comments, especially now, it's unbelievable. In my 12 minute commute to Helix, It's like I'm competing in the Baja 1000. I pity my shocks.

Well, I don't have my BMW anymore...but I have an A4 quattro with sports pkg and 19" wheels.

I've been researching quite a bit....looks like it will be a decent assignment. I've been looking at houses in the Mr. Laurel area. Don't want to live to far from base that's for sure. And I'm married with a young girl....

You aren't far from my shop. You're right on the cusp of South Jersey. Email me if you have any questions or need info. collisioncenter@colemanautos.com

Good luck with the move...you'll either love NJ or hate it. If you grew up here you love it, most transplants hate it.

Good part is we have EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you want to do within an hour away.
You can hit 3 or 4 states within 2 hours.
BEST food anywhere, hands down...
-and- regardless of the blantant trash they show on MTV, the Jersey shore really is a great time.

Welcome to NJ. I live in the Mt Laurel area and am very happy with the area and surrounding towns. I was born and raised in Jersey so I am used to it.

You are close and far enough away from everything. Close to the beaches and the major cities, Philly, Washington and NYC but also far enough away where it isn't bumper to bumper traffic and hectic. You can also find some wide open rural land and farms in the area.

Pretty good places to eat and you don't have to pump your own gas!

Thanks for the info. Yeah I've been talking to people that have been stationed there and they liked it a lot. And I found a guy there now that says he likes it. I'm def glad I'm not going to have to deal with traffic. The only part I'm not crazy about is the cold...but I'll be alright

I'm a southern boy so I guess it will be a little bit of a cultural shock lol. I did live in Germany for 4 years so I'm prepared for the weather/etc....

From Texas it may be an adjustment during the winter but growing up here it doesnt get nearly as cold as it used to.

Well I lived in Korea for a year, Oklahoma City (yes it gets cold there/icy and snow) and Germany for 4 years just before coming here. So I've driven in the snow quite a bit and dealt with cold. I'm just saying that I grew up in Texas and I don't care for cold/snow much. But I'm not planning on living there long anyway....so I'll make the best of it and see all I can. I'm sure we're going to have a great time up there.
