V3 Lite Released! 3/27/17 - Preloaded VMWare/VBox Image - Coding/Diag/Programming

I unzipped using 7zip and then used VMware. Everything is looking great. Thanks for those that helped along the way. I cant wait to start using it on my E60 M5. I would use 7zip for V3 and not WinRAR because for some reason after waiting and hour with WinRAR, it couldn't find the files. 7zip opened them right up. (after another hour of course. lol). I will update with my thoughts on everything. Please ask me questions if need be. Ill try my best to answer them. I am using the V3 on my E60 M5 SMG and my buddy's E90 335I. I just feel after 13 pages here, their isn't really that much a review and walkthrough of the system for green guys like me.

dont forget to attach USB to virtual environment,

I was just about to ask that, is that the reason my k+DCAN cable is not connecting from my car to the computer? my regular INPA on my laptop reads the cable but when I open VMware and I open INPA there to see if there is battery and ignition connection, everything shows off.

Can I connect to an F30 with the DCAN cable? I have an ENET cable but I can't get the VM to see the connection, any guides on what to do?

There are ENET emulators out there that will allow you to acquire an IP with a DCAN cable. With that said, I think it would be a better idea to figure out why your ENET isn't working. Is it being properly assigned to your VM when you connect it? Maybe it's being used on the host OS instead of the VM, i'd look at that first.

managed to get my F30 connected to Rheingold but I can't connect to ISTA P using the ENET icom emulator - I get a connection to the ZGW but when I try to connect in ISTA IT fails with an ediabas error.

so I tried to calibrate the reversing camera in Rheingold and it went through the process but the image is still upside down. can anyone help?

Is this with newest daten files for all models?

Guys that are talking about ista/P DO NOT USE without original cable and professional battery charger. Count in that you cannot use the car up to 1/2 days and it can brick your modules. You are warned...

IIRC I had to install WinRAR to open the V2 image.

Only use 7-zip to unzip the VM. Winrar inside of the VM to extract sp-daten files.

Is this still the latest and greatest? Best way to do programming? About to dig out an old laptop to install this on.
Few questions, does this handle E and F chassis? I have a USB to OBDII and an ENet cable (and BT OBDII, and an underhood adapter).

Goals are to be able to update NAV units in E90 and F10 (CIC and NBT), do basic function coding (mirror fold on lock, etc), flash Alpina Trans to E90. Would be nice to do Airbag error clearing on E39, as well as diagnostics/coding.

I have Carly for BMW and it worked great for most of the things we wanted to do on the E90, but I don't want to buy another $80 adapter to do the F10, figured it is time to get the laptop going.

Hi Matt,

This is still a viable solution! It will be getting an update to the Daten files eventually but they are still rather new. May have some issues working on 2016/2017 cars though.

Question. I just got this VM and it appears that Rheingold has already been configured for a d-can cable. Is this a correct? I have an older 2011 e90 series car that I will be using this on. I assume I will need to change the configuration settings to use an ENET cable for my F80 series car.

That is correct, for ENET you will need to change the settings!
