What octane scale? Is 95 the cheap gas? You want to still run premium with E85. If you ran the cheap gas (our 87 octane) with E85 I wouldn't expect to see 17 psi on a 50% mix. You can add more E85 to get more boost. Try a 40% mix if your trims are good. Also the learning happens after 4000rpm at WOT in gear 3 and 4. Make sure you do some wot blasts there.

Ok so I did 3/4 93 octane straight ethanol free and then 1/4 e85. Didn't see any difference after 3rd and 4th gear WOT but one issue for sure. 1st and 2nd gear I'm fine but as soon as I shift to 3rd the car just kind of stops, loses power or jerks, knocks whatever you wanna call it and then suddenly runs fine. No lights at all. Everything else runs smooth. The max boost I saw was 15 psi but normal 10-12. Without e85 1st and 2nd gear I was doing a bit better. I tried map 5 and 1 same issue. Also I have an automatic. This issue didn't exist before e85. This is my first time trying e85. I will try to run logs but any ideas. The knock or stop doesn't happen all the time and only time it happens is transition from 2nd to 3rd thanks.

Donno y post is not showing but the issue after adding 1/4 tank e85 with 3/4 93 octane ethanol free is that from 2nd to 3rd gear car just jerks, knocks or stops and then suddenly everything gets ok. It's kind a like when u learn standard for the 1st and screw up changing gear. My car is auto and no issues ever like this but right after e85 mix I have had this issue 3 times and only transition from 2nd to 3rd gear wot. Any ideas. Thanks.

Log it, pull the codes, email it to Terry@burgertuning.com.
A questions/comments: 1. When you switch between Map 1 and Map 5 it resets the learning 2. You should never be at 10-12psi max boost on any map. This indicates a problem. 3. What version of the firmware are you on? 4. What codes? 5. Your traction control has been set to 1 click? Post the log up? |

Ok just drove again got about 15 to 16 psi 3rd and 4th gear wot without any issues map 5. Maybe adaptation taking time

I'm still gonna get logs tomorrow either it's timing or something coz Wot 1st to 2nd then 3rd either I screw up or something car sometimes does that big hesitation.

did you ever get this figured out?
1/4tank of "E85" at bollingers ends up to only be approx 2.8gallons of ethanol. Take into account that his normal gasoline is ethanol free, you only approx 17% ethanol content which is only enough to clean up timing for map 1 levels (if that). sent you a PM about meeting up this weekend to assist

I'm gonna try 40% e85 per spool and Terry's recommendation but does anything seem out of ordinary for mechanical break down coz my car is still under warranty till February as it was a BMW buy back but maintenance program has expired.

I am looking for better 0-80 times than 3rd and 4th gear pulls is there a way to increase boost level at 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears so I can get quicker acceleration. My tires are good and barely lose traction at 1st gear 2nd and 3rd gear I have good traction so far and I really want to lose it lol

traction will become an issue in 1st, and 2nd gears when running higher ethanol content with Map 5 auto-adjusting to 17.5psi.
Your fuel trims look safe to actually try higher than E40, but just try E40 first. It will more than likely auto-adjust to 17psi with ignition timing having a retard value of under .5 which will make it feel like a different animal than your current set-up which is 16.5psi peak with a retard value of 3.5 Try E50-E60, the average ignition retard value will be 0

Timing isn't good. I am not used to logs below 40% mix so can't comment. Although your trims look like you are good to target 50% E85. I would also advise to go 40% E85 mix and then relog after it has learned. That will remove timing from the equation and it will be more obvious if anything wrong. Personal opinion, with those trims and low PWM you got a lot more power left in this.

I just went out and made a log for you of 3rd gear WOT. I am running a lower mix than usual of only about 40%. I had just updated the firmware, so it looks like the tune is still learning since the timing isn't perfect yet (avg ign isn't 0). Usually I run a 50% mix, but I thought I'd back down due to the cold weather. Your boost won't be as smooth as this with G4, but you will be able to come close and it should look about the same everywhere else. Let us know how it goes, E85 is fun.

Thanks guys once I have 60/40 mix I'll re run logs hopefully everything will look better. I am also looking into changing the board to 15 ohms hopefully I can find someone in Tampa.
