Superknock
Question on this, after a recent tune I received the following superknock codes
2f7b: superknocking cylinder 6: injection switch off 2f7c: superknocking: injection switch off I understand this is something that needs to be corrected asap. This happened twice while my meth kit was off. I immediately filled up my meth and turned it back on, and took it easy the rest of the way home. I have brought this back to the dyno tune and determined the tune is too aggressive for my fuel CAD94. It's in the process of being dialed back by the tuner. Is there anything I should be concerned about or checking in terms of damage ie. Cylinder compression test? Rod bearings? Last edited by starbuck; 06-03-2020 at 09:21 AM.. |

What tune are you running? I know it is easier said than done but you shouldn't be using methanol for added octane. You could go with an aggressive tune for your fuel but an aggressive tune would be one that has multiple 3 degree corrections randomly throughout your log. Then you can spray methanol on top of it to clean up timing and keep things cool.
If you are really concerned then you could do a compression and leak down test. I have had superknock once and no noticeable damage came from it.

I think just for my own sanity I will have a shop do the compression and leak down tests. |

Tests done, everything looks ok and I have the car back.
One thing I will say is after all these mods I feel like the car is still slower than I would have liked. I may just move to an m240i which feels just as fast stock. |

These cars are quick, but to make the PWG N55 fast you need to upgrade the turbo.

You did go with more of the uncommon tuning options. I would say only someone that has been in modified 335i's would be able to tell you if your car is performing poorly. I do recall feeling like the car was slow on pump gas. Methanol woke it up a little bit. When I started adding a little bit of ethanol was the first time I felt like the car was quick. It really takes a turbo upgrade on the N55 for the car to feel fast though.
I'm glad it all checked out for you though.
