What has yours been quicker than?

As we are all responsible people none of us do this... but if you had gotten into a little road race, what cars that on paper should be quicker than your car would you have beaten and how big a smile would it have put on your face?

Not too sure on specific cars but my N53 330i Coupe does hold it's own pretty well against it's fair share

Dodge Challenger SRT on the interstate a few months ago. He tried like hell and couldn't pass me. We were doing 130+. I was quite surprised. Bone stock E93.

Most recently & my reason for starting this thread, a 16 plate Audi A7 sportback 4 litre V8, the guy driving it did get a bit miffed I came home & looked up its specs and was pleasantly surprised, apparently it has nearly 600bhp

Lexus ISF in a FBO 335i. Assuming he was stock, he barely had more HP than me but my coupe tipped the scale much less than his sedan

And lots of people with dash cams all to willing to make an example of someone driving 'spiritedly'
Most of the time I just poottle around in mine but on the odd occasion when I'm forced to put some manners on someone that's underestimated my old bmw satisfies the petrolhead in me

Well drivers play a big part in road races
So by that logic in a dtraight line Iíve somehow beat a few v6 mustangs the 2010-2014 generation (idk something around those years)
But around traffic and weaving and turns because money doesnít buy skills and I knkw my car like the back of my hands. The newer audi s3, some s2000s, a maserati ghibli and grand turismo, and 2 r8ís
Iím not a formula 1 driver with a 328
But a lot of people with expensive cars just donít have the skills to weave in and out of traffic or tke canyon roads...in a racetrack of course...

Chappers. An A7 does not have 600bhp lol. They have either 200bhp or a bit more with the Petrol V6

An RS7 has the near 600bhp V8 and I can assure you it wasn't that, unless you were being towed by a Eurofighter.

S7 has 420bhp, but its still pretty quick.

^^Agreed - no way will a 335i even contest with an RS7, assuming it was one. Even if it was an S7 I will extremely surprised - it isn't just "pretty quick" it is properly quick in standard form.

Back on subject - my ECU/TCU mapped 330d vs. standard 335d. Pulled about a car length on him on a straight, private road. Which I was expecting anyway haha.

Also, on same road - mapped Mk7 GTD vs. mine which again, I pulled quite a bit on him but I was EXTREMELY surprised at how he kept up at lower speeds.

I suspect the gtd is a lighter car, it's about the power to weight ratio.

Yes it's possible the same affliction of up badging effects some Audi drivers like those that put M badges on non M cars.
The A7 that I had a little duel with was wearing a RS badge, hence my surprise that my old 375bhp 335i did rather well against a 560bhp 40/50k car, even if I was mistaken and it was only a S I'd still be happy with it.

Duel carriageway I was doing 50 in outside lane, Audi came flying up the inside, I see him in my mirror and start accelerating to close the gap on the car in the inside lane and to stop the Audi cutting in front of me. He has to brake and pulled out behind me, I've already floored it the Audi was around 4 car lengths behind and not gaining on me, I then pulled into the inside lane to let him past and to see what type of Audi it was. when I saw the RS badge I had to pull out behind him. We then had traffic in front of us once that had moved over he accelerated hard as did I, he wasn't pulling away and I wasn't catching him, things were going to get silly so I backed of but pulled alongside him when we slowed and stopped for the roundabout. I was ready to give him a cheery wave but I received a dirty look and a shake of his head before he sped of.

Interesting. I saw some RS 4x4 thing yesterday but it had just twin pipes on one side. I assume that's just a badge stuck on.

I don't think how quick your car is matters. More so, how big the drivers balls / ovaries are...

I've had plenty of races in my 300bhp diesel and i have to say i usually win however the cars im racing are on paper much much quicker which makes me think the above is the reason why!
