ECS Tuning - Irresponsible & Misleading

ECS sells a "9006 female to H11 male" harness on their web site:

http://www.ecstuning.com/ES8980/

I ordered it because I needed a 9006 female to H11 male conversion. Big mistake.

My car has been in the shop for a long time getting an Mtech put on it, so I had these overnighted. I get them and they do not fit my 9006 bulb. The shop calls me and tells me to look at it and sure enough it doesnt fit. What ECS is selling is actually a 9006 male to H11 female, so their labeling is completely backwards. (Check out the pics below for confirmation, first two are of their product (first comparing to the 9006 bulb) - which do not fit and the last is of what they claim they sell, it will fit).

I call ECS initially and ask to return because I assumed I ordered the wrong part after the shop said they didn't fit (maybe I made the mistake of mixing up male or female) and they have no problem. At this point I was willing to eat the expensive over night shipping. But after I swing by and talk to the tech he says "These are completely wrong, this is not a 9006 female, its mislabeled." I call ECS, explain the situation, offer pictures, etc. And they don't want to see my pictures or hear about any of it. The guy says "we have sold 900 of these things," etc... But VWs have 9006s stock so these work perfectly for someone who is changing from a 9006 to an H11 (not someone like me who needs the opposite) and you have to buy two at a time, etc. We end the conversation by me imploring this guy to google what a 9006 bulb and a 9006 female look like.

Please see additional post for update.

I'm sorry you feel miss lead by the verbiage used on in the part description. The wiring harness you picked up converts 9006 wiring harness to accommodate an H11 bulb, at the current time I do not have a kit to convert a wiring harness with H11 bulbs to accept 9006 bulbs. I've had one of our guys go in and add more information to the site in regards to that part.

If you would like to PM me your order number I can try to help make it things right, I'd be happy to assist you.

Update: I received a call from ECS today. They are refunding my shipping and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised by the customer service. Although I was initially disappointed, they went above and beyond to talk to me and make things right. Greatly appreciated.

I don't believe they were trying to mislead you. I believe it was just a mistake on behalf of whoever entered the info into the website's system.

I've dealt with ECS tuning on many different occasions and have nothing but good things to say. They're very honest if they make a mistake / will right it if you follow up with them.

Their prices aren't bad too!

edit: Just saw your post. Glad to hear they're living up to the reputation I've come to expect from them Prob my first choice on companies to buy parts from to be honest.

+1

ECS is a legit company I have also dealt with them a bunch. Sometimes mistakes happen, what separates the good from the bad companies is how they resolve the issue and handle the situation.

Glad everything worked out for both parties

I haven't had any issues with ECS either. In fact I always had good experiences with ECS. Back when I had a gti, I bought some coilpack hold downs. Well one of the hold downs broke right at a bend, I called them up, told them what happened, sent some pictures, few days later I had new hold downs, all under warranty. Sucks that they couldn't help you before this thread, but it's good they did end up helping you out.

ECS was a great company to deal with up until my credit card information got hacked and was being used to buy 500 dollar plane tickets half way around the world. Then a couple weeks later I get a letter saying that ECS computers were hacked.

Other then that, so far so good. I've placed many orders with this company

I don't see any reason for them to store credit card info - and unless they removed this feature, it doesn't seem like they do.
