Service history

What would be better?

Independent bmw specialist stamp

Or

Main dealer VW stamp (I work there)

Thats a tough one, id prefer main dealer of any marque rather than specialist , having said that a well known bmw specialist would be more valuable than vw stamp as a lot of people may think its false?

For the main market and most of the population a main dealer just ticks the boxes in their minds when they come to buy.

But for the small percentage of enthusiast buyers a bmw indy would be better. A tough choice but it depends on who you see your car selling to? If you revert all to oem then main dealer, if leaving modded then indy.

Personally I would prefer to see a BMW specialist rather than a vw dealer.

Again as others have said it really is subjective and would be down to the buyer. The only thought I would have is whether they are using genuine BMW parts...?

It most cases I've found BMW specialists actually do a nicer/more professional job than main dealers so:
BMW Specialist would be miles better than a VW dealer.

If you plan on keeping the car a while, I'd say independent.

If you are thinking of selling up soon (within a year or before the next service is due), I'd say go for the VW dealer stamp.

No I'll be keeping it for quite a while, I don't intend to sell it.

I've been using an independent so I'll keep on using them. Plus doing things in between.

Thanks guys.

For your car on paper your indy is the best port of call, however for basic servicing and as its your car TBH where you work is IMO perfectly acceptable, the only fly in the ointment is perhaps explaining as to why the car was serviced at a VW dealer but as you work there Tom TBH in this day and age easily justifiable but you'd still maybe have to explain, mind you better than an unknown garage stamp in the book at least the VW badge carries some weight.

Only downside re servicing and looking after your csr in house where you work may come down to any diagnostic work where you might have to lean on your Indy for assistance, but that's no hardship really.
