Hooters/BMW CCA Auto-x and Rally Aloft

As many of you know, we are doing an auto-x on August 16th at Streets of Willow. That event is almost full...

On September 5th please join us for the second BMW CCA LA Rally Aloft. This event, which is run on public (paved) roads, starts at South Bay BMW and ends at the Aloft Hotel in Rancho Cucamonga. One of the reasons for holding the Rally is to give folks from Orange and San Diego Counties a fun way to stay at a hotel near Auto Club Speedway. The Rally Aloft is $10 unless you participate in the auto-x, at which point the Rally is free. To reserve a room at the discounted rate of $75, please call the hotel directly at (909) 484-2018 and be sure to request the BMW CCA Group Block.

On September 6th we are holding our third (and possibly final) auto-x of the 2009 season. This race will be at Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway) in Fontana. The entry fee is $75 per person, including lunch and instruction. Extra lunches are $10, and helmet rentals are $10. If you run at Streets of Willow, you will receive a $10 discount on this event.

As with the last event, we are being fed by the friendly staff at Hooters in Ontario Mills. This was a great addition to our program and the ladies from Hooters look forward to seeing you all there!

The Club originally had an auto-x scheduled for December 6, 2009 at Auto Club Speedway. We have decided to use that date for a Tire Rack Street Survival School instead. If you have never heard about the TRSS, please go to http://www.streetsurvival.org/ We may find another open weekend someplace else and add an event. If not, the September 6th auto-x will be the last one of this season. But don't worry...we'll be back next year!!

To register for the Rally Aloft, email randall_harris@roadrunner.com

To register for the auto-x (including Streets of Willow) go to https://axwaresystems.com/axorm/calendar_main.php

Thank you everybody for your enthusiasm and support. We look forward to seeing you at these fun upcoming events!

I'm definitely going to the auto-x, not sure about the rally though. I have couple questions since this will be my first BMWCCA event. Do I have to be a BMWCCA member in order to register? What is the helmet rule? Minimum SA95 or SA2000?

Usually yes, but a BMW CCA membership is only $40 a year and gets you the roundel magazine, so very much worth it

Helmet standards for the BMWCCA is SA 2000

Hello,

Sorry...I have been away from a computer for a couple of days. You do not need to be a member to register. It is suggested but not required.

As for helmets we require SA2000 or higher. If you don't own a helmet, we will rent you one for $10.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Cool, thanks.

Well, I need to buy a new helmet anyway, but I was hoping to wait it out till the SA2010 comes out....hopefully next year. The local SCCA is still ok with the SA95 (which I have since 98).

Vincent,

Welcome to the Big Leagues, if you drive a BMW, you can afford to buy a new Helmet a little sooner!!!!! Although, right now kinda sucks, cause the new rating is only a year away.

BMW does have decent rentals, you can use for now.

Exactly the reason why I want to wait till next year to buy a new helmet. You're gonna be at this event, Matt? Haven't seen you in years.

Not gonna make it. I'm busy prepping for my first Club Race of the year, later in September.

Money is tight for me this year. Damn Mortgage payment!

I don't know if I can make it out to SOW this Sunday, but count me in with helping to run the September event.
