Actuator replacement whilst door is deadlocked?

My passenger door is deadlocked and I gave it the battery reset (saw that on here somewhere) which didnt work.

My car-friendly mate who had a look at it said it isnt the fuse and he's replaced a few of these actuators on e90s.

It seems to me it is the Actuator issue which is a common fault on these and I've found one on ebay which is on the way.

The only problem we're having is, how he'll take the door-card off whilst the door is closed and unable to open entirely??

Any ideas guys or work-arounds? Would love some ideas, cheers!
