What does my car need in order to retrofit bluetooth telephone and audio?
Hi everyone,
I was hoping to get some quick info from you, I have been doing a lot of searching, found some diy/retrofits, but could not find specific info similar to my car's specs. Or at least not to my knowledge.. It is a euro spec '09 E91 with S609A Navigation system Professional, no combox in the trunk, just an empty hole, sadly no optic cables running under the rear seat side bolster. I am interested in bluetooth telephony and audio streaming. -Obviously there needs to be a combox, is this a (M)ULF(2) or TCU? -How to deal with the missing wiring, is this available as a part? -The other part necessary would be the bluetooth antenna I guessed Apart from any small materials and coding, will these parts make up for a working basis for the bluetooth telefpony and audio streaming? Hope anyone can give me some direction, thanks in advance! Thomas |

Thanks, but my experience from my other E91 is not 100% perfect when it comes to aftermarket bluetooth (fiscon) and it’s almost the same price as retrofitting with available second hand parts.
I want to go for OEM, any thoughts on the initial questions? |

You need the Combox and the Right Nav if you want streaming.
If you have pre wiring that is big issue in the US all cars up to and including the 09 model year. With Pre wiring you plug in and program. You need a rather expensive Icom cable to program stuff on and connected to the Most Bus. The box that I mentioned is pretty cheap for what it does. And the BMW stuff breaks to . |

I am in contact with a breaker who has a few E90's, from which I can extract the wiring and optics. |

Go to the idrive board and or the coding board here to get
better answers . There is some hard ware and firmware requirement to get all the features working. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1278349 There are more threads like the above if you search for them. |

Ok thanks, will dive into that.
I guess I was lucky because I got hold of a complete hifi/idrive/combox wiring harness which supplies me with the exact location where the combox wiring part meets the regular wiring. This will save me time when retrofitting into my car. Combox and antenna are also on the way in the mail somewhere. Will document a retrofit on cic navi prof with no pre wiring in the near future and post it somewhere. |
