I think it comes down to what you're doing. I know there's plenty of times I've had my hands full and need to put a bunch of stuff down just to open my trunk and then pick all the stuff back up to throw it in. It is nice when you can just have the trunk open and ready for you and just throw the stuff in.

Yeah, it's definitely a convenience issue over a laziness one. I work from the trunk of my car quite a lot (photographer) so this has made my life so much easier. It's still working by the way although we might need to go to a slightly stronger spring.

He wants to make sure they're properly tested first before putting the kits together, but I imagine he'll sell them on his eBay page.

Yes, the kit for a non-carbon trunk will use stronger springs and maybe special sprung bump stops if required. He's currently looking for people local to test E90 with steel trunk, E90 LCI & E92 so will update as he goes along.

Just a little update. I have a prototype working on an E90 with aftermarket boot struts and a modified sprung bump stop (currently working on another design). Hopefully in about 2 weeks I will have these ready for standard struts.
Here is a video with the sprung bump stops and a new gas struts Thanks |

A quick update.
Prototype bump stops are made and will hopefully be tested this weekend. The strut ends and a spring is also going fo testing. It looks like a secondary spring will also be required which will need to be fit to the hinges via 2 ball sockets. Not sure how this is going to work but ill keep you posted on the progress. |
