Hi fellas,

A few weeks ago I ditched my Bridgestone runflats in favor of some Nitto Invos. The ride and grip have improved significantly, however at speeds above 60km/h there's an extremely annoying vibration/resonance. It occurs on all roads but is worse on certain surfaces.

I never noticed this with the Bridgestones, so what could it be? Bad balance, poor alignment, defective tyre? The wheels were balanced and I had a 4 wheel alignment done, but the rest of the suspension hasn't been touched.

Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like an out of balance wheel to me dude, but also check that the all of wheel nuts (well bolts on most bmw's) have been tightened!!!!

Out of balance wheel. Wheel weight could have fallen off.

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards that but could feel nothing through the steering wheel. Car is going back in tonight for a rebalance.

I had a similar problem before. 2 days after having new tires car had slight vibration. Over a week it felt like a 50c coin. Turned out to be right rear wheel bearing!

What did it cost to fix this? Had the wheels rebalanced last night and swapped left to right, but no change...

Well it cost me about 400 bucks. Did it at advan. He quoted me online 180 to 200 got there and told me 400 cause he misread it and thought I was talking about fronts hopefully if this is the case for you that it's the front bearings. Cheaper part and cheaper Labour. Car drives like new now

Hmm any chance you could try fitting another set of rims and tyres to see if the issue is still there thus eliminating the fault of the tyres?

Yeah, that would be good but I haven't got a spare set. Might ring around a few tyre shops and see if they can help me out.

Try a bmw dealer? One guy got a set from them to loan by memory in canberra to comply his vehicle (albeit I also think they were doing some work on the car)

They're made by Toyo in Japan. Quality is very good, but I guess there's always a chance one of them might be defective.
