Today I noticed that my early build date CID has the light sensor in it and the one I'm replacing it with doesn't.

Out of curiosity I removed the plastic cover at the bottom of the display where the sensor is usually hooked up and the one without it just seems to not have the proper connector soldered in place but has the space and traces for it.

To me this means that it could likely work very easily just by retrofitting the connector from my old damaged display into this one along with the cover that the sensor is integrated into.

Maybe bmw removed it for cost cutting measures after 2008 just like they did many of the pre wired options in cars? This is by no means a feature I need but something I'd like to try and maybe make work so I wonder if anyone has played with it before
