Check engine light

Yesterday I was idling my car for about 30mins with the AC on and my check engine light came on. Is this normal? I then turned the car off and restarted it after an hour...everything was fine afterwards. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Get you car scaned to see what caused the SES light. And no it's not normal. SES should only come on "normally" when the ignition is on but the engine is not running.

will they be able to check for a previous code/fault that is no longer showing up on the car? like a history...?

Yes they can. It's actually stored on your key as well. You'd be amazed at what the car actually logs in its history.

Lol... Like your speed. Shifting RPMs, etc.

Global looked at me when they saw some of my speeds recorded. I just laughed... I make a point of going as fast as safely possible before bringing my car into the dealership.

It also store over-revs. I had one stored at 7500rpm peak and 1sec duration.
