Some of the greatest designers went there. Trust me, it's as up to date as it gets since it was released for the fist time at the end of March, you cannot go wrong with this book.

Here you can find a great description with some images to give you an idea of how it looks:

Here you can purchase the book for $49.95:

I notice also bHd recommended you a DVD from a person who attended this very college.

Hope that helps.

do you go to Art Center?

Thats where she is trying to get in. I'm going to send her those two books, along with some other goodies. I'm sure she might not even need those books since she is going to a design institute right now in Korea, but you know the saying, you can never "learn" too much.. also I want to show her my support

CCS is the place to go if you want to do trans. Art Center is great but they just teach you the fluffy stuff. Also, I've heard the auto companies are actually hiring product designers to get a different interpetation of the automobile form.

If she does go into transportation design she should expect to be designing only small components (knobs, door handles) for the first couple years or even just working CAD. The interior and body development is reserved for the more senior designers. Also, salary for a trans designer is pretty craptastic at first.

Check these portoflios out. She needs to bench mark off of these guys. http://cardesignnews.com/site/designers/portfolios/

If you have any questions just post it up. I went to school for industrial design and was strongly considering transportation design but the negatives outweighed the coolness of the profession for me.

While this may be true, her thought process is what will get her paid. If she has good sketching skills, she'll just end up being someone's beeyotch. How and where she derives her form factors will get her a job and allow her to move freely within the design community. Trans design or almost any field of indsutrial design is cut throat. You have to bring way more to the table than just pretty drawings.

Here's a couple of good books that I've used:

http://www.amazon.com/Chassis-Engine...0038558&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Build-Fibergla...0038625&sr=1-1

I'm not in transportation. I'm a mechanical engineer that is always repairing, modifying, or building a car.

Good luck

All it takes is money to get into Academy of Art.
