Need NCS Expert Profiles & other

If anyone could send me your basic NCS Expert profiles and tell me how to load them into the NCS Expert, it would be much appreciated. Almost all of my knowledge on the e90 is around the engine and what not. Coding is not my deal, but am willing to learn. I come from MAC background, but I have just acquired a Toshiba Protégé. I got the INPA software package off of Bimmergeeks website, and I have NCS expert for dummies and Daten v65.
I have no other profiles. Actually, I have NCS dummies twice. I don't know why, but one of them does nothing.

I am thinking of buying a used M3 cluster off ebay. Does it matter if they are from a manual or DCT set up. Also, I want to upgrade my FRM module from Frm 1 to at least FRM 2. Frm 2's on ebay are cheap. What is the difference between an FRM 2 & 3 and why pay the extra $100.00 for a used one?

From what I can tell regarding the Kombi, I will use WinKFP to write the vin to the new cluster and then use NCS expert to code it? I know you need a cluster that has less miles than yours. That wont be an issue as I have 158,000 miles on my 335i. I obviously don't want the tamper dot. I am hoping I don't have to pay $250.00 to have to virginitized, if I don't need to to that.

The FRM seems pretty self explanatory. lots of DIY's on it.

Please advise....

See entry 2 in this thread and the link.

Found these files for 4.0 version they don't seem to be all the files
for the old Revtor setup but they have a working expert mode.
His old files don't work in the new version. (I tried them)
I think they are just profiles you create but I not sure what there individual
significance is or what there actual value is.
Yep no profiles from the bimmergeeks download. Well that I found anyway.

you copy them directly to the pfl folder after extraction.
Anybody else have current versions of Revtors complete list for 4.0

My Bimmergeeks download has 2 profiles. One is Factory Coding and the other is Manipulation. I've use Manipulation for some simple coding w/ no problems. I really don't know the significance of a profile.

You only need these two profiles. Factory coding is what some would call expertmode. Manipulation is for coding. The name given to profiles can be changed to whatever you want if you edit them .

What's the difference in using one profile or the other? If you're going into an ECU and changing a file then coding it in, does it matter? Maybe for something more advanced it might be important?

Cool thanks...

Any advice on an M3 cluster. I might buy one from an M3 Manual.

I think I can get away from not having to get it Virginized if I can get one that has lower mileage than my car? Correct ??

"Expertmode" type profile doesn't have the setting checked to actually change a parameter via coding. It only codes a module based on the VO, hence it defaults the module to factory coding.

It will pick up your mileage correctly if lower mileage than you currently have but it will have the tamper dot if not virginized.

So if you load Factory Coding / Expert Mode and, for example, try to code out the idrive warning, it won't do it?

Go right to the NCSexpert section if you have Inpa working

Correct, you'd use the manipulation profile to make the changes you want to make stick.

What do you know about reprogramming the existing eeprom chip. From these two DIY's. Looks like it's possible.

I would guess you're either missing a step in the procedure or your connection is off. The software works great. Are you using NCS Dummy or the Coding Tool with NCS Expert to make the changes?

It's definitely possible, I've done it a few times to M3 clusters using the R270 programmer. The test clip never worked for me though so I use a desoldering station and remove the chip, erase the VIN and mileage in the programmers socket, and resolder the chip. Then the cluster can be coded to any 3 series.
