Why advertise car for sale online if...
You refuse to then talk about the car via text, email, messenger, etc? I hate when people respond with "Call me" If it gets far enough where we seem to have a deal, I will call. Saves both of us a lot of time.
If I called all of you dopes, I'd have no time left in my day. Also, I was talking to a guy with a 60s Impala for sale. Conversation was normal. I ask a couple more questions about it & he tells me "You can find all info on Knoxville Craigslist." No, I can't. You didn't even link me. Also, if your ad was not so vague, I wouldn't need to ask these COMMON questions. |

Buying (and selling) cars is tough. So many flakes out there. I prefer e-mail so that I can keep all of the information to refer back to and keep things organized. Otherwise, you have a bunch of scribbled notes and a hard time remembering which car is which if you are looking at several. If you are okay with posting the car for sale online, then you should be prepared to discuss it online as well.

When i purchased my current car i asked the sales guy to give me all the details about the car via email - this is to cut out the sales banter / LIES.
When i was happy with all the details, i called him and arranged a viewing then agree the final price in person. I don't care if i sound like a tyre kicker at first, if they don't follow up then they don't get the sale. |

You also eliminate real buyers. If you advertise online, be ready to sell online. These idiots are saying I want all the benefits of online sales without doing any of the work. Not how life works.

Real buyers won't have a problem picking up the phone. Even most dealerships have stopped BSing over email because they spend all their time on the computer instead of on the floor making sales.

1) I have way more time in the day during which I can e-mail vs. make a phone call. 2) Many times if you call someone, they are not available, or the connection sucks and either you can't hear them or they can't hear you. 3) As mentioned previously, it is harder to organize questions and answers later if you are looking at multiple cars. 4) I would rather someone have a randomized CL e-mail than my phone number in case they turn out to be a nut. If someone writes a good ad with many good pictures and answers most questions that one might ask in the ad, then I will call someone to set up a viewing. Otherwise I am going to stick to e-mail until I am satisfied the car is worth my time. If you are selling a car and you will only deal over the phone, just know that a lot of buyers could be skipping right over your car for that reason. |

I think it’s a little like what I imagine an online dating thing might be... I wouldn’t give my phone number out there right away to a potential stalker...or to anyone if I were selling a vehicle.... Which I am, btw... anyone interested in a cherry 2014 f15 with 38000 miles, let me know and I’ll give you my phone number.

That's what I was thinking. This sounds like the cries from people who grew up with texting and email. To me a call shows you're serious about closing a deal and not just trolling listings.
