Exclamation Heads Up 495 N/S Bound Lanes Near Tysons!

Just a heads up, that there is a GIGANTIC bump, shit it's practically a curb, in the far left lanes on both the north bound and south bound directions near Tysons. I believe it's between mile markers 62 and 64.

I crushed the bumps in both directions today, not knowing about either. The second time was the charm, it ripped off and blew up my new carbon fiber lip. I thought it tore my suspension off my car. I can't believe I did not crack a rim or blow out a tire. There is a sign that says "bump" but it in no way prepares you for this frick'n thing.

Ps there is a similar bump in the far left lane right after you merge onto Rt 66 just after you get on from 495. There was an Acura sitting on the side of the road 1/4 down the road with two blow outs. I assume the same jerk-off that crafted the other bumps made this one too.

These are new (to me anyway). It's been a couple of weeks since I've driven through there. I have never hit anything like these things on that stretch of road since construction started. The new road is great, very smooth, then unsuspectingly you come up on this little patch, a "bump" sign and this frig'n curb!

When I called VDOT, the customer service agent was very nice and knew exactly what I was talking about - she has taken numerous calls about these curbs.

I am doing that although I do not hold out much hope... If they deny the claim I will take them to small claims court. I just installed the CF lip last week too, $500, and I purchased a replacement last night.

The lip isn't really any lower than the rest of my bumper. In the end I actually think it helped to protect the under-side of my bumper. When I was inspecting my car last night I could see where the road had actually scraped the undercarriage cover. I would not have driven over that bump at 25mph let alone 50 or 55 mph. I am sure anyone that drove through there in their Corvette, Porsche, etc had problems too.

Not to put anyone's hopes to rest but I still haven't been repaid for the damage done to my car last year.

I blasted a rim on a giant pothole in Arlington a while ago (since been filled) - One rim bent way of of shape and the rear just a slight bend - it was even worse because it was raining and the pothole was full of water so pretty much invisible.

Thanks for the heads up -

I actually have destroyed them too. I was racing a porsche at night and he got the lead on me thankfully . Next thing I see his car flying in the air and I slammed on my brakes enough before I hit them. I ended up getting 2 bent rims on my right side because of that shit, but could have been worse. I refuse to go through that area as much as I can now.

so what happened to the porsche?

I hate DC/VA roads, especially around the beltway. The roads inside VA areas are nice, MD roads suck too. How can they get away with leaving huge bumps like that on the highway? I hope whoever put it there got a piece of it too.

Its funny how high taxes are in this area and the roads are so absurdly terrible. I don't think I've hit so many bumps in my entire life in Florida as I have in VA in the last 6 months of living here. Then add on the state income tax and personal property tax on vehicles and it becomes almost laughable... it seems like in this area, the govt is out to screw you as much as possible. Even the cops here are like a militant force on the highways, I haven't seen it this bad anywhere I've lived.
