If the Head-Up Display was available on the e90, I would get it in a heartbeat. I would also love to get Active Roll Stabilization.

NO. That starts the alarm panic mode if you have an alarm. You press and hold the unlock button, in a few seconds the windows and the sunroof start opening and they continue as long as you keep the button pressed.

I went to a Benz dealer today, to test drive some new cars. Surprising thing is you CAN open and close all the windows/sunroof from the remote itself.

So not sure what to tell you guys, it worked on 3 different model sets, so I am presuming it is a standard feature.

You should be able to open all windows and sunroofs with the SmartKey by holding down the unlock button. In order to close the windows and sunroof you must point the SmartKey at the infrared reciever which is located on the drivers exterior door handle, press and hold the lock button.

My CLK500 works this way.

Not sure about remote top operation on your SL though.

Audis in the US have the feature, or at least my 2002 A4 did.

I think that it's a software issue, not a legal issue.

I do think it's a legal issue. Just because some manufacturers put it in, doesn't mean that others will find it worth the risk to put it in as well.

Well, if we take full responsiblility on it, I'm sure the dealer "could" reprogram this. I would sign some type of waiver, have it filed at the dealer, so if the dealer were to be sued, they would be protected and come after me since I signed off on it.

If anyone decides to call BMW customer service or ask their service managers about reprograming this, let us know... I mean if you can do it on other cars here in the US then why not our cars?

My windows on my mom's Merc can be lowered and raised via the remote... They can be operated the same way on my G35 (but I had to buy a window-up mod). I'm down to find out a way to reprogram something so the windows on my sister's E90 an roll back up... I'll ask about it on my next trip to the dealer...
