Thanks for the notification on the big rebate for the Wagner EVO I - I would have ordered through you if I was on your side of the pond, but since i'm 10 000kms away from Vegas I ordered directly from Wagner in Germany (same rebate currently)
For anyone (in the US or rest of the world) willing to buy this excellent (for those of us that are Stock /near Stock) intercooler, hurry up - I was notified by Wagner that it was the last production batch, after the stock is gone, no more Evo I for the E8X/E9X platform...

Hey Guys, I need your advice:
For the Wagner Evo I on a 335 Xi, a local shop I never tried before (independent BMW specialist) told me they need 2 hrs and +/- 200$ to install it correctly...Seems to me a little bit excessive from what I'm reading here I objected that there was no bumper removal involved, and piping was the same, the mechanic told me even if proceeding from below the fan was in the way and he had to move it, hence the 2hrs, and that it "Always seems simple on paper, but more complicated when doing the job". Do they know what they're doing or is it a ripoff ? Thx :-)

And if the fan is in the way how do they propose to resolve that? Move the fan? I did my Mishimoto (with stock connectors) from below and it took all of 1 hour total, including removing the undertrays to get ready for an oil change. It's a simple job, and if you have a few tools you can do it yourself on ramps in your garage like I did.

If I was a shop I would charge 2 hours for any n54 IC install.

Point taken, I was just a little bit doubtful about the "Move the fan" operation, I will probably go through him in the end anyway (no ramps available @ home), since I just read 10 mins ago the M Guys in my area recommend him I guess he's not bad at his job...

Honestly, it's pretty simple. Remove the lower shield. 2 clips on the stock FMIC to unscrew it. 2 Couplers. Reinstall the new FMIC. Reinstall lower shield. |

Buying a decent set of ramps will be cheaper than him fwiw. It is not that hard of a job depending on the IC. Plenty of DIY guides. That is the route I would suggest. it also means you will be able to uninstall it yourself when you sell the car some day.

A small investment now saves many ducats down the road. I haven't been crushed or disfigured by their collapse yet.

Hi, I'm new here on this great forum!
I'm getting my 06 335i fitted with VRSF downpipes, MMP-e Inlets and upgraded intercooler. Already have the first two ready to go on. Now looking for a good quality IC. I hate poor fitting stuff, and I hate poor quality items, just because I'm a mechanical engineer working for a company that builds high quality offshore equipment. So I don't mind paying a bit more for a good fitment and finish. There are so many ICs for my car available, but almost no vendor specifies for which application is their IC the best. I'm looking for a little over 400 crank HP on Ron98, no Meth etc. Will be custom ECU flash only, no JB4. What IC should I buy? I'm leaning towards Wagner but I think the Evo 1 performance isn't good enough, looking at test results from Mosselman Turbo http://www.mosselmanturbo.com/wp-con..._Mosselman.pdf I like AMS, but too expensive once imported into the Netherlands. ATM looks good as well, but specs are not clear (core size etc) is VSRF 5" good enough for my application, or should I go for the 7" which looks very similar to the CTS Turbo IC. Thanks for your advice on my setup! |

Thank you all for the quick responses.
I will be running stock turbos, I was under the impression the 7” HD isn’t very good for stock turbos due to its higher pressure drop? If I were to go for Wagner Evo II, will it make a difference between performance or competition? Will I be paying more for the competition for less weight only or also slight better performance? I guess the pressure drop numbers and graphs on Wagner site are clear on that, it’s also performance but not sure about real experience? |

Wagner Comp weighs 40% less than wagner Performance, it also recovers temp a lot faster than any other option out there.

Anybody else running the prototype 7" fmic from ARM? Just installed mine and seems like it will be a good budget option for the ~$300 range, not sure when they will be for sale though.
