it could well be a door card off job to release the handle.

I'd like to think it was a simple job, but I doubt it will be! good luck!

The door handles are a doddle to remove on these cars especially if it's just to inspect/clean the led as that's on the small part of the handle.

Open the door and remove the cap that's located near the handle and remove the screw ( torx20) then just wiggle the small portion of the handle. If you want to remove the full handle then once you have the small piece out just pull on the handle and it will release from the latch inside then just wiggle it out. The only part I found tricky was putting them back on, you need to grab the latch from inside the door and hook it back over the handle. It's a little tricky but just takes a bit of patience.

Hope this makes sense if not the hook and latch part I'm talking about will make perfect sense once you remove the handle and see for yourself.

I would imagine the LEDs are still good but may just be the plastic cover that need cleaned or replaced

yep there's no cleaning that! it's a sealed LED unit and there's heat damage. guess i'm lucky it's still working, going to need a new one.
