It took almost all day but I now have the new Interface for iPod (not the engineering sample) in my car.

In doing the installation, we had to upgrade 6 modules in the car. That resulted in a bunch of new menus and icons (see photos).

I haven't had time to really peruse ALL of the menus but they seem very well laid out, the new additions make sense, and the changes (such as moving the telephone keypad onto the screen instead of making it a popup) are great improvements in useability.

I may be in for a rude awakening - I played dumb with my local dealer. I have one on order (was quoted $271.99 plus two hours installation). My car's production date was 7/2005. I'll keep you posted, but appointment isn't until Sept 14th, to coincide w/ my one year oil change and service. Keeping my fingers crossed...

if you mean the interface, I would say ,,maybe`` as at least that was the original intent. They are still working on releasing versions of the Interface so I do not believe this is a completely dead issue.

Of course, it was also BMW´s intent to have it work with Gen 3 iPods but that is no longer the case either.

Someone asked re Soundcheck. Forgive me for not remembering who - it was a LONG day. I double checked. Soundcheck is turned off with the Interface.

There was no mess. They must have vacuumed three times, they got rid of all finger prints (not that there were that many), and hand washed the car at the end (they know I don´t let them use their machine wash on my car).

Actually, none. No rattles either.

The components come out of the dash really easily. The pain in the neck is getting the glove compartment back in.

Yes WE can!

I got my car today after some services (oil/filter change). I was initially just planning to get those services, but the SA told me there is a campaign going, which I don't quite know. They usually don't explain thoroughly.
I did mention that the emission recall which I gotten a letter about about a month ago.

The first thing I noticed on my i-drive was..
1) the font has been changed. I think I like the previous one. I think it got narrower so it can show more letters in a screen.
2) the interface; well, JSpira well explained and showed how it changed. I think it's more intuitive.

3) the best thing is when you first insert the key fob, I used to click the i-drive button to make the warning go away, but now it disappers by itself!!

Well, It was a little surprise to me, because I didn't expect, actually I didn't even know this new interface was available before I got it on mine.

Pre-sept E90ers, now we can get the new software, then we can get the ipod integration ??? Let's hope for the best.

Oh, did I mention that my car's production date is Apr01,2005. The very first version of E90.

The services and this software update costed $0.00. Oh, plus they gave me an X3 for the weekend while they're doing their work.

that is good news indeed! That legal notice that always pops up on the idrive is driving me nuts. I'm glad BMW 'fixed' that.
