Dealer battery change

I'm due for a service and a couple of warranty issues to be sorted this month and the battery needs changing, how much should I expect to be stung at a dealer for a battery change? I'd like to be forearmed as to what is a reasonable non-dealer price to compare with the dealer price to save the hassle of taking it into two different places. Its an e91 335i non agm

thanks Rasa, I'm handy with spanners but I thought I'd need to reset something to tell the car it has a new battery so it doesnt over charge it?

If it's a non-AGM, I don't think you have to register the battery.

Ensure you match the Ah & CCA ratings of your original battery.

Cheers Andy, If that is the case I'll do it myself.

Yes you do need to register it. The charge cycle compensates as the battery becomes weaker with time. The car needs to know a new battery is fitted so it can be charged correctly.

I had my battery replaced a little while ago, £80 for the battery & £40 for my indie to fit & code it.

I thought registering was only necessary for cars with AGM batteries, that non-AGM cars didn't have a charging 'profile' as such?

Unfortunately they do.
As the battery gets weaker the car eventually starts to switch things off heated rear window, sideclights no longer come on when locking/unlocking the car & you get a few other little 'glitches'.

funny you should mention that, my rear demise didn't come on on tuesday morning and the sidelights tonight. Anyone know of a decent Indy near to Crewe? BMW want £270 for battery change.

Hmmm, not sure how much non-AGM battery would be elsewhere, but my AGM battery was £160, so in some respects, perhaps £270 all in at BMW (if that includes coding/registering) is maybe not a total rip-off.

Other option is fit yourself, and ask around on here if someone local to you can register the battery?

You could always buy it from halfords, they would fit & register it, a YUASA for mine was around a £110 & registering is £40 or so if I remember correctly. As I said my indie charged me £40 & they got me a EXIDE battery for £80
