You saw the hearts above the little guy I hope.

I figured it was a coil issue. High Voltage so you may have smoked it. You should be able to blow out the water. Use some silicone on the rubber parts. That may help. IDK

You'll love the rear wheel drive of the BMW and I think it works better than the Audi out of the box.

The software that Vishnu dumps into the Piggy Back is proprietary so you cannot buy someone else's product. Trust me...these guys at Vishnu are smart. But if you can break their code...that might be interesting!!!

Vishnu isn't using the black box anymore. Look like this CanBus unit is purchased from another manufacturer. I think it has plenty more I/O which they ran out of on the black box.

As far as the research...I think you need to get the latest software added to your BMW before the warranty ends. Ask the dealership about the Dinan. If you're into plugging in your laptop and tweaking everything then Vishnu may be the way to go. I like the idea of just putting the doggone thing in and never messing with it again. Probably...go with the Dinan. It is your best bet. IMHO

Just got back from the shop, said there was probably water in a coil - and to take it apart and clean it myself (week wait to get it in the shop). I love my audi mechanic. I'm just hoping to find someone as good for the bmw (1.2k miles before it's out of warranty).

I've got a spare ecu (got it when the turbo's blew -- also an '01 and they all had problems) -- most people prefer a stock-ish car so i'll get it back into stock mode. The lack of power is silly after your used to the chip. Too bad we only get 91 octane out here. at the track, under 100 octane, it's a monster.

I don't know much about washing engines, but i'm fairly good with the electrical side of things. I've worked as a consultant for a couple companies developing hardware to interface with ECUs through the obd2 interface for every existing protocol -- both through standard obd2 communications as well as reverse engineering proprietary commands like how to remotely unlock doors, etc.

So I'm sure there is a ton of information on this forum -- but I wish there was a wiki or something where I can find information quickly. They added one to the audiworld.com forums -- not much there, but it seems like such a good idea. Does anyone know of such a thing?

I'm waiting for the s4 engine to cool down so i can start taking it apart. The r. bumper was pushed in after a fender bender so i decided to take the repair $$ and sell the car as is. So sad to let it go -- the 335 still doesn't feel like my car. Probably after I get rid of the s4.

p.s. i'm seriously curious though - if vishnu posts their firmware/maps online, then why don't people buy the hardware from the original manufacturer, the harness from vishnu (or have it fabricated in bulk for cheap) and save some money? I saw no EULAs associated with the firmware/map downloads.

i have a V2 and a brand new V3 harness still in the bag. While i had my V2 in i never had any issues... i took it out for winter, but come summer i want to use the V3 harness instead.

what firmware will i need now that i am upgrading to the V3 harness?
i have a 07 6mt.

i may try the new V4 and compare it to my V3 but im already happy with how much extra power i have with the tune in.

Dude,

It sounds like most people don't like the V3. I would'nt waist the money on CanBus.

i have the V2 pinout right now and when i install it in the spring, i just want to use the V3 harness because its PNP. so i will then have a V3 Rev I no canbus.\

i already have the harness, i just have to use it. only problem is, i dont know what map to load onto the procede once i use the V2-V3 upgrade harness.

I loved v2 on my 335. My car was fast, with trap speeds up to 114 on 100 oct. Spending that initial $1500 or so seemed reasonable at the time. Then I upgraded to V3 for whatever amount of $$$$ that cost me, only to have my car lose 3-4 mph in the 1/4.........

Keep your V2 .. just my 0.2

Where would I go to download this map? I am in the same boat. My car is AT though. All I have is a drop in filter, nothing else.

If you want, I have the V2 map with the speedlimit wire jump that I was running on my car. I think the guys that were having problem were the guys that had downpipes, exhaust, intake. V2 couldn't handle all that. Guys posting that they saw overboost on their analog gauge. BS You can't see that with damn gauge. I ran datalogs and never seen an overboost. The car ran fine but I was running the 07 BMW stock ECU Firmware. Perhaps different if not.

I guess I'd wait until he has all the stuff done and then I'd buy next year when price will be $500.00
