17mm spacers
Hi
I don think 15mm is too much, take a look at my 17inch msport rims with 17mm spacers. I think it fits very good at my car! Look at the pics before and after. |

It looks like you might rub if you corner really hard or hit some bad holes or bumps. Have you tested these conditions, and have you tested how the car handles now (or rather, how noticeable the added understeer is)?

With the 12mm spacers on the rear, with my track tires mounted, I just clear the fender liner. I don't think I could've gotten away with 15mm with those wheels/tires. |

I have driven with these 17mm spacers for 2 months now and I haven`t detected any rubbing of the tires yet. The car has msport springs ca 15mm lowered from orig.
Rear wheels 17x8.5 w/255/40 tires offset 37 orig. and now offset 20mm . On the winter wheels which I have driven 6 months with has 17x8 w/225/45 offset 20mm on the front and offset rear 15mm. |

I meant aftermarket springs, like Eibach, H&R, etc. Just from your pics, it looks like the tire face is flush with the outside surface of your fender. If you ever did an aftermarket spring, you'd have to go with 15mm or less. Your looks nice and very aggressive as it is.
I have no doubt that you haven't rubbed yet. If you ever had a large load the back, possibly in-laws you might rub. |

jtoemm, what kind of rims are those in the second picture? I assume those are your winter wheels? Those look 7-series rims but smaller. Can you give us some more info on those?

Paul, nice DIY. Why you have michellin tires and are they RFT? are those OEM tires cuz I have bridgestone RFT as OEM. What chemical you use to clean the rim on the inside? Nice and clear photos...

I just installed the RE 12mm spacers on the rears. They do a nice job of subtly pushing out the wheels and filling the fenders. I made sure I used steel wool and cleaned the rust off the hub, I also used anti-seize compound. While I had the wheels off I took the opportunity to throughly clean them and to apply 3 coats of Poorboy's Wheel Sealant. At 41 years old, I can't believe how much I've gotten into modding my car!

Nice job. IMHO, this is one of the simplest but most aesthetically pleasing mods you can do, especially when you have the 162 staggered tyre setup

What size spacers should I use?
Since my tires and wheels are covered by BMW lease; Therefore I cannot change wheels, so I was thinking in some spacers....
This is my current tire+wheel configuration: 16 x 7.0 Double Spoke (Styling 156) light-alloy wheels, 205/55R-16 run-flat all-season tires. For photo please check at : http://www.identicar.com.au/pdf/pass...%2F55%20R16%22 Maybe a 15mm will be not enough to push out the wheels and filling the fenders (something like this http://www.freewebtown.com/boondoggler/after.jpg) ...What do you think?

Generally not advisable, the front wheels is doing more than the rear wheels.
