You're not going to convince him that anything is wrong with the HPFP. He seems to be very stout in believing the HPFP only fails because we're all liars and we're really ALL secretly putting shit gas in our cars. I don't know how many posts on here about HPFP failures stated clearly that only top tier and top octane available were used, but it's probably about a metric shit-tonne. We ALL must be lying. My BMW dealership must also only sell these cars to liars too, because they were adamant that the HPFP problem was a really, really, really common thing. However, I must say my car has been a lot better since the recall. I have only had one HPFP replaced since then, and I think it's been about a year and a quarter, right? The pump they put in for the recall, it failed a couple months later, but its replacement has chugged on without incident for a year now. That is by far the longest I've had a functional HPFP. Looks to me like BMW has not eliminated the issue, but I'd believe they have the failure rate down to something very reasonable. It's too bad it was such a painful process and took so damn long, but they seem to have made it a lot more reliable than it was. |

'13 335is HPFP failure
I just had a HPFP failure on my 2013 335is. Car is at 7,600 miles. Car is stock and only has seen premium 93 octane fuels (mostly shell).

Hopefully my car won't... ill be super upset having to take my car into a dealer for random things, other than maintenance so early on. Maybe I should have a priest come and perform an exorcism on it just cuz |

08 e90 335xi auto, recall was done in June 2011 @ 20k miles for the HPFP and programming (not because of failure... but because I was forced to have it done by dealership even without any issues).
I'm at 63k miles and never had any issue with any HPFP issues... I always click the CA remote to unlock the doors from far away and then get in and start it (20-30 seconds after i unlocked the doors with the remote). I've been using Costco gas (rarely use Shell). Only on road trips will I use whatever is available and even then I try to find a brand name i recognize. |

Had a brand new '08 e93 335i. I've actually been around since 2007 so I know what WE have gone through. Once again it's under warranty. Don't judge a username by the join date

It's one thing to put up with the problems and another to pretend like it doesn't matter when a car breaks down with 7K miles on it because it's, "under warranty." |

I just think people have a right to be angry their $50k car doesn't work right because of a known problem that has existed for years. BMW is too big of a company to just say "it's warrantied" and be done with it. |

I just had the same issue with my 2009 335i Sedan. Took it to BMW of Alexandria (and as usual received tremendous service there even though I didn't purchase the car there) and they found the fault code that indicated a fuel pressure sensor...it was replaced...we'll see if that solves the issue.
I purchased the extended warranty or that would have been a $1000 issue today. I am really disappointed in BMW. I mean, a 50k car has a failure that apparently hasn't been resolved? I drove an E36 M3/4 for my DD for 10 years and I miss it now. The technology on these cars seems to be creating a situation where overengineering has harmed the reliability of the platform. Sad really, but I may be going elsewhere for the first time in 15 years when the warranty expires. MB

19,000+ miles, all but 1500 on the JB4. Pump is OK so far. Only unexpected fix was a bad radiator hose fixed under warranty

All I use is Shell 93 or Mobil 93 so that can't have anything to do with it - at least in my case...sorry.

Here are a few of mine for fun...my 335 is for DD, but I must say that although I am not likely to sell until the warranty is done, I am not sure after driving and owning BMW's for 25 years if I will stay with the marque...just not sure yet.
