Best beater car for $3000 or under?
Looking for a beater car for DD/commute to work and winter. I'm looking for something good on gas, not sure what to get. Just needs to be reliable and GOOD on gas. I was thinking maybe Honda, or Toyota? I'll prob put snow tires on it for the winter but that is it. Something cheap and i don't have to care about if someone dings it or a bird shits on it. I saw some 96 Camrys I don't even want V6, 4 banger is even better as i commute 50 miles a day round trip for work and home not including gym, store, etc. LOL
Anyone got anything for sale??? Suggestions? Was also looking at old Subaru RS liked the AWD factor. |

I'd recommend a Honda, have a '97 Accord and love it just to beat around in the winter, leaving at the airport, or other times I don't wanna leave the BMW.

I see all the Hondas have 130+ miles does that matter??? I would assume that the timing belt would have to be changed.... how long till i have to change it again???

Subie is reliable as long as it's not boosted. An old 2.5RS is a good choice.

You most likely want to get a Japaneses car, toyota carrola, camry, nissan altima/sentra honda civic or accord, dont get anthing older than 2001 and make sure it has good service history, and the previous owner kept up with the maintenance, then you don't have to worry about buying a car in the 100k range, also try and get a 4cyl...in the past i had a 94toyota corola it lasted up to 358,682 mile because it had an immaculate service history, and was easy at the pump 30-45 $ of 87 oct to fill up for the whole week ,more depending on how u drive...it woulda lasted longer but when i was younger i acted like a dickhead and used it as my humpty joy ride vehicle and didnt care much for it and hit a whole bunch of things with it lol ...but it served me good, cuz it preserved my other cars from getting the daily abuse

I have a beater car and It has 250k miles on it. I BEAT THE SHIT out of that car since I was 16 up until last year and it NEVER broke down on me in the course of 6 years. That car is amazing and I still enjoy driving it!

Subaru, all wheel drive good on gas and got mine for 3000. Its a 97 with 150000 but she is solid. I HATE it. But it will do as my beater and great for winter driving.
