took out the gas pedal and seems to be ok, i'm thinking it might be the gas pedal that causing issue. but no way of testing with another

Garage List
Which engine does this one have, N52 or N53?

The N52 has throttle body and Valvetronic (Valvetronic is the throttle), but as far as I know the DI N53 just has a regular operating throttle body. I would look at these items depending on the engine type. Throttle pedal is also something to look at, but I would seriously recommend having the codes read!! No good letting the engine run bouncing off the limiter!

thanks for the info, i'm just thinking, if is the TPS that is having issues even if i unplug the gas assembly it should still rev crazy.

does it isolate the issue to the gas assembly since i took it out and it is idling fine?

thanks,

took out another working e90 gas assembly and it was doing the same crazy revving. then i took it out after without plugging anything and it STILL does the crazy revving. so i guess i was just lucky that one time when it idled correctly.

FIXED!!

finally i remember i was playing around with the pedal when the car was off before all this happened! i had keep pressing it all the way and it was clicking, i pressed like many times. and that's how it all started.

hold the gas pedal all the way down for over 10sec, then started the car again, i think it somehow reset and fixed issue

will keep an eye and see if it does it again. so guys don't play around with the clicking, it might get you in some secret mode and cause this crazy revving.
