Not without upgrading to a later FRM, your car won't have the option of DRLs.

You'll need FRM 2 module or higher to have angel eyes as drl

Hey guys

I'm wondering how to do this too (Angel eyes only on DRL).

I have an E90 330D LCI but when I go into Carly under FRM, I don't have the option of turning off the low beam.

It has the option for pretty much everything else.

As above. Mine is the same, turn drls on via idrive or carly and the low beams come on too. Everything in carly says that they're not on.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

I did crack this, I now have AE as DRL

I'm at my desk just now but I'll pop out to the car at lunch and note the settings down and post here.

Edit: Just to clarify, I have AE as DRL whilst the headlights are set to "AUTO". The AE's are on all the time and the headlights come on as expected when it gets darker. The AE's as DRL also function when the Headlight switch is set to "0".

Ok, so the following settings got the Angel Eyes only as DRL with no other lights using Carly.

DRL 1/2 - Active
DRL 2/2 - Active

Key 1 - Active
Key 2 - Active
Key 3 - Active

DRL Customisation - Only Additional Lights (EU) - Active

High Beam - Off
Fogs - Off
Turn Signals - Off

DRL Angel Eyes - Active

Brightness - V-High (my preference, you can change to whatever suits you)

Sidemarker - Active

Now I'm not sure if the Sidemarker actually helped, I did try a couple of times without using it and I had no joy. Read a thread somewhere that suggested turning it on.

I hope that helps.

I'd like to do this as well but am a little unsure of what hardware and software I actually need. Do I need the Carly Pro or Lite version? And also what obd adapter do I need? From looking on ebay, the prices for the Bluetooth ones seem to vary wildly.

Hey there, you'll need the Carly Pro app as the Lite version is literally to test the adapter.

You could try a standard ELM327 Bluetooth adapter but I have one and it barely works, it's not good for coding so I bought the Carly v2 Bluetooth Adapter. (Bluetooth only works on Android, if you have an iPhone you'll need a wifi adapter).

The proper Carly adapter cost me about £30 after I found a promo code somewhere and the app is on the Play Store.

With the coding I've done on my own car and others, it has more than paid for itself.

That's great. Thanks bud, I'll look into that
I'm assuming the Carly software is straight forward enough to use.

It's pretty easy once you know what you're looking at, if you need any help just give me a shout. I've done quite a few bits now so more than happy to help.

So what happens when you select drl in the I drive? Does the option just turn on the angel eyes only?

Or have you overridden that setting so it now does nothing?

Thanks for that. I thought it was just a cable to use with Carly instead of a Bluetooth adapter! Didn't realise it was a completely different package!

It looks very good, and much cheaper than buying Carly and an adapter. Is it easy to use as it looks like it could be quite complicated due to the amount of stuff it can do?

Anyone else using this instead of Carly?

Just be aware that if you do something wrong when 'coding' you can brick your car. There have been dozens of 'HELP' threads over the years where people have done just that.

The setting remains as before, all that has changed is the particular light that setting uses. Before it used both dipped and AE, now it uses just AE.

Some FRM modules are susceptible to bricking due to a firmware fault. Carly supposedly checks this before coding and doesn't code if it finds the error unless you bypass the warning.

Explanation here.
