What do you consider full bolt-ons...?

I've seen alot of E9X N54 vehicles that claim to be full bolt-ons in their descriptions (especially on YouTube)... what is considered "full" bolt-ons for our vehicles?

It depends on if anyone want to criticize or justify something....lol

FBO is standard term meaning you have an upgraded FMIC, Intake (DCI, or CAI), and Downpipes (catless or highflow cats)

When someone says he is "heavily FBO", including the above, it denotes he is using meth and is completely catless or has an upgraded exhaust

Tune, Intake, Downpipe, Intercooler, Exhaust.

Although on this car the cat back exhaust portion is sometimes not required to be considered FBO since it doesn't add too much power.

"FBO in general means you opened up all the intake and exhaust side of the car but left the intermediate (engine) alone".

In this platform if you have upgraded turbo's, methanol injection, and or E85 it's a bit beyond FBO generally speaking. Although you can run E85 and not be FBO and same goes for Methanol Injection.

oh okay, it seems like theres no solid mods list when it comes to full bolt-ons. i was seeing it so much in descriptions i thought the list might be a bit more concrete, as it was in the LSx world before I switched over. but i did like the intake open/exhaust open definition...

this (and tune of course)

Charge pipes/BOVs and catbacks don't do enough to exclude cars without them. 90% of the time these are added for reliability and sound even if a catback does add a few meaningless hp. Personally if you have tune, DP, intercooler and drop in filter your close enough..

Don't discount the weight loss on most cat back systems. My HPF system dropped 40lbs off my car and that plus the maybe 5-10hp boost over the extremely restrictive oem e90 is a pretty significant increase combined!

Quick off topic question for you: How does the HPF system sound compared to the stock exhaust in your opinion? Still trying to figure out what the hell system to get without being pissed off at how loud it is. Love the tone I've heard in videos from the size of the pipe but I don't want to wake the dead with it either

FBO: Tune, Intake(s), Down pipes, Charge Pipe, FMIC, Cat back exhaust, Meth, Fuel system upgrades. Shouldn't call it Full Bolt On if you don't have ALL of the Bolt On parts.

Well to be honest, it's probably one of if not the loudest system for the 335i. I absolutely love the sound and it truly is an exotic sound compared to the stock exhaust and 99% of the systems for the n54. I will say most people don't like this level of loud but I wouldn't have it any other way. I have some YouTube videos of it that give a decent idea of how it sounds and the catless video should give a pretty good idea of the volume. It's under the channel mikes metal and speed. You may want to check out the VRSF system if you're wanting something a bit more quiet!

This is why I prefer "stages" which have defined minimum requirements...or just listing all mods lol

I've even read Vishnu Stage 1, 2, and 3 in video descriptions... what's that mean and since when did Shiv offer stage x packages for our vehicles? ?

That's a really good question. I think we need to come together as a group and really determine what the hell is Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. so there isn't any confusion anymore. Get a poll going and get feedback from some of the other boards?

Vishnu:
Stage 0 was stock on 91 octane
Stage 1 was stock on 93 octane
Stage 2 was downpips or intercooler
Stage 3 was downpipes and intercooler

This stuff has been beaten to death for a while.

Cobb:
Stage 1 Stock Intake optional
Stage 1 + (Stock with FMIC) Intake optional
Stage 2 Downpipes
Stage 2+ Downpipes and FMIC
