A new TPMS stumper... no $2VB code and no RDC module

Added M wheels to my E91, and while they have TPMS, they are not talking to the car, so I get the constant red TPMS warning in the dash. I'd rather not. The prior stock wheels did not throw a TPMS error.

Removed the proper fuses, went into NCS Expert to remove $2VB and it's not there. No code to remove. Very strange. (last $2 code is $2BG FWIW).

So... then I checked for the RDC module for Ss&Gs (shits and giggles). In the trunk of a wagon, it should be in the white receptacle above the battery. But it's not there either. WTF? No sign of the harness, either. There's two smaller plug units (connected) in the receptacle, as there should be. But no sign of the larger RDC module or its larger harness. Checked all around behind it, too.

So, the car definitely had TPMS, that worked, before I switched wheels. What's going on here?

TIA!

Mike

Hi Mike! WHAT IS going on?

Did you attempt to reset the TPMS per the procedure (p.74 of my Owner's Manual for same car as yours)?

What Warning Icon(s) are you getting on the instrument cluster? Since you are using NCS, you must also have INPA -- have you connected to the RDC (ADR #20) and checked for fault codes, and also checked for signals received by the Transmitters in each wheel well, & the antenna, as received by the RDC?

What brand & part# are the sensors mounted inside the tires? Are those sensors "programmable"? If you used a shop to mount/install the wheels, did they check the signals, frequency, etc. of each sensor? What year & model vehicle were the wheels/sensors used in. Any chance it was a 2011 or later vehicle which uses a different system which would make those sensors incompatible with your system, at least as programmed?

You don't say in your post, but it sounds like you are NOT trying to diagnose & correct the issue, but simply trying to "code out" the warning. I haven't had any reason to try to modify the stock system on mine, so can't help you there. Here are TIS links showing location of RDC, circuit diagram, and CORRECT fuse F13 power supply to RDC (NOT F27 as per RDC circuit):

Those diagrams are for E91 built 3/1/2007 or later, so if your build date is EARLIER, you have different JB fuse layout & numbering.

So... this is embarrassing lol. Perhaps this worked this time because I replaced the cluster (had the red TP warning before and after)? I had tried resetting through BC before the new cluster without success. Just tried it again, and DERP, that worked. Drove about 10 miles, light stayed off. Thanks man.

Regardless, WOW, awesome response with very useful information that's been otherwise tough to find. Great stuff.
