Has anyone noticed anything funky with their coolant temps after flashing the "PPK" ZUSB?
I think the number that is given for the 135i N55 might be a PPK2 ZUSB. I am pretty sure my car thinks it has the 850watt fan installed now. I say this because the fan behavior seems to be much different now and my coolant temps don't seem to be in check properly. The DME using tables meant for the 850watt fan when only the smaller fan is actually installed = less than desired cooling at idle and low speeds? Is this a possibility? No codes are being thrown to indicate something is not working right, or at the right speed. |

Finally got around to getting my VRSF downpipe installed to go with my PPK, I used to complain about barely being able to hear it in this thread with Factory Catted... LOL OMG I love this PPK now so much more with Catless DP!!

I thought that PPK2 was the hardware side of things and only PPK1 was the DME flash. Drop me a PM if you need any help KJ |

As for the 850w fan it sells for around $600 though you can get the fan shroud alone for around $120. If you get the shroud only you can install a universal upgraded fan within it for under $100 or so and save a nice chunk from the OEM upgraded fan. How does the relay know what mode the car is in? The car runs in multiple heat ranges which vary to promote efficiency while cruising and to produce power during performance driving. The fan spins at different speeds during these heat cycles to maintain the selected heat range. I've seen my car at 115c with 20% fan cycle and I've seen it at 110c with 90% fan cycle. The DME most certainly does have coded logic to control WHEN and HOW HARD to drive the fan. The relay is only put in place to regulate voltage since you're bypassing the factory wiring/fuses. The upgraded fan is probably hard wired because the factory wiring is not rated for an increase in amperage draw. Maybe I am over-thinking it, but I'd appreciate it if a tech who's experienced with flashing PPK1 and PPk2 could verify whether or not it's the same software version for both kits... Even stated in the PPK flash thread is that there is more than 1 zusb that gives the pops and burbles. So, how do we know we are actually flashing the correct ZUSB? You are confirming that there is no specific flash between PPK1 and PPK2? I am not too sure I can just roll with that... There are definetly variations of the PPK flash available and you don't seem to be able to answer that directly and definitevly... I am reading that there is a ppk2 specifiction flash tune which adjusts the dme parameters for running the fan. Last edited by bNks334; 08-26-2016 at 08:40 AM.. |
