Its possible but you will start experiencing problems like transmission slip past 500-600 hp. If you aren't planning to go past that point there really isn't a purpose of going single turbo because upgraded twins can make that much while being cheaper to buy and install as well as less turbo lag.

The single will make less torque and be easier on the auto

What's your power goals? What kind of driving style or events? Twin turbo and single turbo cars perform differently and therefore appeal to different people.

I thought with the xHP flashes the auto could handle more torque.

This is a function of both the rotordynamics of the wheels used as well as the tune targets. Many high powered twin auto's just keep the boost ceiling a little more conservative down in RPM to go easy on the transmission and increase with increasing RPM. Still get low lag and awesome drivability but easier on the transmission when going full tilt.

Def. flash your transmission! Take care of the poor old girl.

Hello sorry about bringing up old thread but I'm deciding if I should get Auto or manual and I wanted single turbo conversion. I want to use the car mostly for freeway racer which I know is ok for autos but I want a quick quarter mile car as well from time to time on a track with slicks. I wanted 700 whp or little more . How's the transmission holding up? Up untill now?

If you want over 700whp go manual, I put down 672whp 625wtq at 26 psi in my auto and on the street i cant go over about 23psi with getting some slight slippage so i would guess at that psi its only putting down 600-625 whp and maybe 575wtq

That's impressive. I'm going with bottom mount ST setup using a SpaTurbo n54 cast iron manifold along with a gtx3583r with a 44mm tiAL wastetgate. I plan on going with BMP PI as well. Did you also have to buy the Split second AIC6 port injection controller or the usb to rs232 cable? I already have a motiv boost box and plan on going custom tune running flex fuel or full e85 I haven't decided yet. Any helpful suggestions? I have a 08 335xi auto with xHp Stage 2 and MHD Stage 2 flash flash currently on stock turbos with FBO.

I bought the bmp pi kit that came with everything, hit up Ken @wedgetuning for a custom tune!! Had to order the cable online but it was cheap . Flashing the aic was super simple process and I went with a gfb digital boost controller 🤙🏼 Also running full e85 and xhp stage 3 tune with some custom shift points and other flash options. I’m loving the new updates to xhp!!!

Imho, save up and get something that's proven to work. I've had the spa manifold for about a year and have never got it to work right. and i'm getting tuned by Jake at motiv. The wastgate placement is terrible and we thought it was maybe the boostbox or mac but swapped both for new ones and the same outcome. I know about 2 other guys that did the same and same result. Now I'm scrapping the whole thing and went with Docrace. Do it once and do it right. I learned the hard way. Check out link below for convos about this on fb

Do you know if the people using the spa turbo manifold were having problems with under boosting problems or over boot issues? Any idea? What do you mean by wastegate placement is terrible? What exact problems did you run into?
