Anyone run the Nitto NT05 tire? Thoughts?
I'm thinking about getting a set for the rear of my 07' 335i. It's currently got Michelin Pilots on the rear, but the reviews for the NT05's like great! Lots of sticky straight line traction, and they are supposed to handle corners well also.
Thoughts?

Isn't there a NT05 and NT05R? I had the non-R version several years ago and it was ok at best in the dry, completely dangerous in the wet. If you want a 200 tread wear I strongly recommend the RE71r or RE11 if the 71 doesn't have your size.

I'm talking about the regular NT05.....not the NT05r drag radial. According to Nitto....the regular NT05 is supposed to have decent wet performance and actually corner well.......the NT05r is just for drag racing
I will look at those RE71's . Thanks! |

NT05s are crap until hot, and I mean hot. You can't even warm them up in an AutoX run. RE71R are 100% the way to go for a sticky street tire, assuming you don't mind the noise and harshness.

Much worse. The Michelin PSS or PS4S are incredibly comfortable given their performance.

If you are only getting them for the rear you won't notice any difference. If you put them on the front you will hear them. But the performance trade off is worth it. I honestly don't even notice the sound.
